Actress Kate Hudson announced the arrival of a baby girl on Tuesday when she posted the news on Instagram. The Almost Famous star heralded the arrival of her daughter, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, with an anticipated "She's here" declaration complete with a 10-2-18 image signifying her birthdate.
The arrival of Rani will be Hudson's third child and her first with boyfriend and musician Danny Fujikawa; both chose the name in honor of the baby's grandfather, Ron. The star has two sons: 13-year-old Ryder with Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson and seven-year-old Bingham with Muse vocalist Matthew Bellamy.
Although Hudson has been dating Fujikawa in 2017, they've known each other for some 15 years, as his stepsisters have been longtime friends with the actress. Paparazzi captured images of the duo embracing around the time they started going out together. Several months later with cameras following them on leisurely junkets to New York, Cambodia and Greece, speculation was that the relationship was getting serious.
It certainly was, when Hudson announced on social media in April that she was pregnant and already knew the gender of the future arrival. Later that month, at a party in honor of Gwyneth Paltrow's engagement, Hudson showed off what was a very noticeable baby bump to the delight of her fans. Her journey through all the trimesters was well-publicized, including news of her using a baby mask on her abdomen to hydrate her skin while carrying the baby as well as minimize the possibility of stretch marks.
During that time, Hudson also appeared on The Ellen Show with her mother to chat about how excited they were with adding a new member to her household. In September, Hudson's friends threw a pink-themed backyard baby shower complete with balloons, flowers, and well-wishers that included chums 90210 star Sara Foster and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer.
There's no word on how long it took to deliver the baby, although Hudson recalled when she was in labor for 18 hours with her second son Bingham, her mother called to ask when the child was due. Apparently, Hawn wanted to fill out her day with not only the arrival of a grandson but a leisurely swim and massage as well.
