Kate Hudson Shows Off Bump At Gwyneth Paltrow’s Engagement Party

In the wild, they call it hibernation. In Hollywood, it's referred to as hiding from the media. That was Kate Hudson's plan when she found out she was pregnant back in 2017. The actress shied away from public appearances and social media during much of the winter, not so much for the sake of privacy, which we assume was also a motive, but because the ordeal of carrying a new family addition was making her sick... literally.

So imagine the surprise among fans and friends when they saw the Almost Famous star out on the town with her boyfriend, musician Danny Fujikawa, hanging out with chums on Saturday at an occasion to celebrate the engagement between Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk.

More astute guests were already hip to Hudson's baby bump after she celebrated the announcement of her forthcoming child, which will evidently be a daughter, at a backyard bash the week before. On Instagram, a message she posted that garnered nearly 900,000 likes, Hudson apologized for her disappearance from the social media landscape for frequently being physically ill ever since finding out she was pregnant.

"If you've wondered why I've been so absent from my social channels, it's because I have never been more sick!" she exclaimed on one dispatch. "We have been keeping this pregnancy under the radar for as long as possible but I'm a poppin now."

Indeed she was. But the glow about her was obvious, accentuated by the yellow, scoop-neck dress she wore that showcased her future addition. Her appearance was also a marked contrast to Fujikawa, who accompanied her to the Paltrow party in a black suit, inexplicably wearing a sling around his left arm.

The baby will be Hudson's third, who'll be a younger sibling to brothers Bingham and Ryder. As for what type of parental dynamics to expect, one wag pointed out that Hudson is known to be really strict and tough with her sons, having raised 13-year-old Ryder with ex-husband and Black Crowes vocalist Chris Robinson and Bingham with ex-fiance and Muse guitarist Matthew Bellamy. Fujikawa, on the other hand, is more laid-back, according to the source.
