Kate Middleton is a mom on a mission!
Middleton is tackling the stigma around maternal and newborn fatalities, all while being a couple months away from giving birth. Kate Middleton, who is expecting a third child with hubby Prince William come this April, is shedding some much-needed light on a very important cause: maternal and newborn mortality.
The Royal recently visited the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, to learn more about the organization's health programs and its aim to reduce maternal and newborn mortality across the globe.
Kate, who was announced by the president of the foundation to be a new patron, began her campaign geared toward shining a light on nurses. All while tackling a serious topic such as infant mortality, she bumped into the midwife who helped deliver her daughter, Princess Charlotte, in an emotional reunion that had the two embracing one another.
The royal mom was photographed wearing a matching blue Jenny Packham overcoat and dress. She sat it in on discussions regarding the college’s workshops that allow for immaculate training support for trainee doctors in order to develop safe surgical techniques in the obstetrics and gynecology field.
Middleton later attended a table discussion on tackling the stigma surrounding women’s health, particularly that involving women’s mental health. The president of the organization commented on the royals appearance and involvement with the college, saying, “We are very grateful to Her Royal Highness whose support will help to raise our profile as a medical charity that champions the provision of high-quality women’s healthcare at home and beyond.” Looks like the mom of three-to-be is really getting involved!
Having given birth twice and raising her two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte alongside Prince William, Kate mentioned the difficulties even she endures as mother. She said at times she can feel a “lack of confidence” and “feelings of ignorance”. Due to this, Kate wants to help promote the issue of mental health and the importance of destigmatizing mental health when dealing with new parents.
Kate Middleton is one busy woman, and we’re glad she’s making time to get involved with organizations that truly make a difference in the everyday lives of expecting mothers.
