Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are doing what they can to prepare for the arrival of their baby girl this summer, but given the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it’s understandably not what they imagined. A source exclusively shared with Hollywood Life how the parents-to-be are getting ready amid the global pandemic.

“[Katy] doesn’t want to scare herself over things she can’t fully control,” the insider explained. “She’s visiting and speaking with the best doctors and is more than prepared to have her kid during the pandemic.” The source went on to say that Katy was nervous about being pregnant to begin with, but she’s been keeping herself busy and “taking it all in stride.” “She’s taking all the necessary precautions for her baby and won’t let the negative thoughts take over,” the source added.

A second source told the publication that the couple is remaining positive amid the stressful situation. But they’re also considering what’s the safest option for them in terms of a birth plan. The insider revealed that Katy and Orlando are leaning towards a home birth rather than delivering their baby in a hospital given the circumstances. Katy actually helped her sister Angela Hudson deliver her first baby at home back in 2014, so the pop star has first-hand experience with home births. “Katy actually helped deliver her sister’s first baby right in her living room and it was magical! She now knows how great it can be,” they said.

Katy and Orlando have yet to make a definite decision about their birth plan. But the first source says that Orlando one hundred percent supports his fiancé in whatever she feels the most comfortable with. “Orlando is helping out and has been a complete rock star through all of it,” they explained.

Katy first announced her pregnancy in March with the debut of her “Never Worn White” music video. However, shortly after, the coronavirus pandemic hit North America, leading to quarantine orders in most states with the U.S. Katy and Orlando were forced to return from abroad as travel restrictions became implemented. Katy had been doing press work in Australia, while Orlando was filming in the Czech Republic. Since then, the couple has reportedly been self-isolating at home and enjoying Katy’s pregnancy. Katy is due to give birth sometime this summer and reports suggest the pair want to get married in the fall, though any plans remain up in the air due to the COVID-19 situation.
