Celebrity parents all have different ways of raising their children. Some choose to bring their children out into the spotlight while others will keep their children hidden away. There really is no right or wrong way to parent, some people just choose different methods over others.

Kelly Ripa and Jodie Sweetin are both celebrities in the limelight who have very different jobs and very different ways of raising their children. There are some similarities but not many. Ripa may seem to be a carefree bubbly person when the cameras are rolling but she’s anything but when she is at home. She runs a tight ship and she has no problem at all with snooping on their phones.

Jodie Sweetin, however, seems to be a more laidback mom and we are seeing more of her now that she is on Fuller House. Sweetin doesn’t appear to have a lot of strict rules in her household and some might say that she’s too laidback with parenting. Sweetin’s kids probably feel as if they have a lot more freedom than Ripa’s kids do.

Fans are dying to know how these two parents differ and we have the answers. Check out these 20 ways that Kelly Rip and Jodie Sweetin raise their kids.

20 Kelly Ripa: She Has A No Phone Policy

Cell phones are everywhere now and even kids have them. People keep their phones with them at all times, and even when we lose them, we feel that our lives are over. When it comes to teens, they live by their phones. They have to keep up with what’s going on with all their social media apps. But that’s not the case with Kelly Ripa’s kids. She has a “no phone” policy in her house and she’s been very vocal about it on her show. She doesn’t allow phones at the dinner table and if she catches someone with a phone during the designated “no phone” times, she will confiscate the phone.

19 Jodie Sweetin: Her Daughter Was On The Show

A lot of celebrities wouldn’t even think of having their young kids on their TV shows or in their movies. We have seen it though, Angelina Jolie had one of her daughters in the movie Maleficent. Jodie Sweetin has also allowed her daughter to be on the show Fuller House. “Our daughters were on an episode this season,” Jodie Sweetin told PEOPLE of herself and Andrea Barber. “To have our daughters be on a show that we were on when we were their age,” continued Sweetin, “it was this really crazy moment where I remember thinking, ‘I never in a million years would’ve thought that someday I would have kids [who] would be on the next chapter of this series.’”

18 Kelly Ripa: Her Kids Are Overloaded With Supplements

Kelly is not a fan of having sick children in the house so she does whatever she has to in order to prevent them from getting sick in the first place. We can totally understand, no one likes to be sick but she may be going overboard just a little. “My house is like the CDC. I’m all about containment,” she told WebMD in 2008. “We keep things really clean, really neat. The rooms are hydrated with humidifiers. When Michael was first in school, I had pinkeye six times that year. Now, it’s prevention, prevention, prevention. We do supplements, probiotics, you name it.”

17 Jodie Sweetin: Mom Monitors The Music They Listen To

It can be understandable to monitor the songs your kids listen to because there is a lot out there that young girls shouldn’t be introduced to. Lifeway.com reported that the music that the kids listen to whether it’s at home or in the car are closely monitored by Jodie. If there are parental advisory warnings on a song, then her kids are not allowed to listen to it. She doesn’t like songs that have adult lyrics that could offend the children. She doesn’t have specific songs that her kids can’t listen to, she just keeps an eye on the music in general.

16 Kelly Ripa: TV Time Is Strictly Limited

It’s always weird when we hear about celebrities who make their money off of TV and movies to say that they don’t let their kids watch TV. As parents, we all don’t want our kids to spend hours in front of a TV or device but Ripa might just be a little over the top. She apparently only allows an hour of TV on the weekends. For the rest of the times, they need to find other ways to entertain themselves. We’re sure that they aren’t allowed to watch their father on Riverdale, but most kids don’t want to see their parents on TV either.

15 Jodie Sweetin: She Doesn’t Want Her Kids To Have The Same Experiences She Had

For anyone who has struggled growing up, you want something different for your children. It’s certainly not always easy for kids to grow up in Hollywood and Sweetin certainly had her struggles as a child star. Sweetin told People, “I remember being young and people passing me things under the bathroom to sign, like under the stall. Like adults. We were [filming] at Disney World, and my mom went with me to the bathroom, and an adult woman came in and under the stall was like, "Can you sign this?" And I remember my mom being like, 'Have you lost your mind? What is wrong with you? You don't do that! She is a child and you don't do that to anyone!' Who thinks that is a good idea? Someone.”

14 Kelly Ripa: She Tosses The Room Looking For Hidden Devices

Kelly has no problem tossing her kids' rooms if she feels like they have hidden a phone in there. Most parents wouldn’t even think of their child having an extra burner phone but Kelly is not taking any chances. During a segment with Megyn Kelly, the mom of three explained her method of searching. "It starts with me tossing the room like a prison warden because I know there's a hidden device that I haven't found yet. I know, because I just know. So I find the hidden cell phone that is buried underneath a pillow, deep within the bed, below the thing, underneath the thing, plugged a thing and I go 'an iPhone 2?!' And I confiscate it."

A lot of parents like to have control over the things that their kids wear. They want them to look nice and presentable when they leave the house. For Jodie, she doesn’t mind if her kids express their own personal style. She isn’t necessarily worried about modesty or wearing mismatched prints, she lets her kids wear cute and trendy things. They have been seen in camouflage t-shirts, NASA hoodies and sweatshirts covered in donuts. It’s the price of fashion and Jodie is onboard with all of it. There is no conforming to any style rules in Jodie’s household and we think that’s pretty cool.

12 Kelly Ripa: There Are Different Rules For Her Daughter Than Her Sons

Kelly certainly has a lot of different parenting strategies over the years but they mainly revolve around her daughter who she calls “challenging.” She rarely talks about bad behavior in regards to her sons Joaquin and Michael. It seems to be her daughter Lola that she has the most trouble with. "Lola challenges me," revealed Kelly in an interview with WebMD, elaborating, "My sons are forever happy to see me"—toy stores notwithstanding—"and they're snuggly and cuddly. With Lola, everything is up for debate. Everything is a conversation." All parents likely have the same type of issue, not all kids are the same.

Who doesn’t like a slice of pizza and it’s so convenient when you’re in a rush? Sometimes it can be the cure for a hectic day. We think that pizza is okay for kids as long as it’s in moderation. While most parents do tend to sway their kids to a healthy lifestyle, Jodie doesn’t mind if they have pizza. She posts pictures via social media of her and her kids scarfing down pizza. 10 Kelly Ripa: She Controls What Her Daughter Wears

Kelly and her daughter certainly have a challenging relationship and that includes Kelly putting strict rules on what Lola wears. "First thing in the morning, it's a major discussion about what she's going to wear. I've learned to give her limited options: ‘You can wear this or this.' That's what works best," she told WebMD. Kelly is obviously trying to steer her child away from clothing that may be deemed inapt. But her daughter is older now and should have some control over the things that she wears. Her mother shouldn’t be controlling her life that much.

Social media isn’t for everyone and when it comes to parenting, it’s always best to air on the side of caution when it comes to your kids and social media. Some celebrities love posting pictures of their family and kids for fans while others use their social media for only work. Jodie doesn’t seem to mind posting pictures of her children on social media sites. Jodie told Naluda Magazine, “I have amazing fans on social media!! And my kids… lots of my kids! Haha!”

Kelly has stated that her daughter will argue with her so often that she’s actually worried that an emergency will happen and her daughter Lola will just keep arguing. There could be an [...] attack,” she told WebMD. “And I can just see me having to debate with Lola about why we have to leave right this minute. According to News.amomama.com, Jodie took her girls to 'March For Our Lives L.A.' in 2018. It was a peaceful march that had a goal of changing firearm laws for the safety of children. I don’t care who you are or what you do, if you’re a mom, you’re a mom.” She sounds like she might just be a little frightened of the teenage years even though she’s right in them. "If you don't set limits and boundaries for your kids early on, and that means not giving into every temper tantrum, then later on, once they're teens it's too late."

4 Kelly Ripa: Her Daughter Doesn’t Always Like Her

It can be hard raising your children especially if you are particularly strict. We sometimes bump heads with our kids and admittedly, they don’t like us very much when we lay down the law. It’s easy to get upset as a parent when your child yells at you or tells you they don’t love you anymore. We know they don’t mean it, that they are just acting out, but it can hurt. Kelly Ripa, however, doesn’t care. While on the Wendy Williams Show, Ripa stated, "I don’t think she likes me, but I don’t care." At some point, she may want to ask herself if she’s being too strict.

3 Jodie Sweetin: She Likes When Her Kids Are Sarcastic

One thing that moms learn rather quickly is that our kids can be just like us sometimes. We raise them in a particular environment and yet we don’t expect them to turn out exactly like us. Jodie has a very sarcastic nature and she’s discovering that it’s rubbed off on her children as well. She is learning that her children are just like she is. She told People, “My kids have mastered the art of sarcasm,” Sweetin said. “They have really sarcastic, witty little comebacks.” She added, “And in the moment I’m like, ‘You don’t get to talk that way to Mommy,’ but on the inside, I’m like, ‘Fantastic use of the art of sarcasm.’ It’s really great. I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, you’re mine. But don’t use it at me.’”

2 Kelly Ripa: Limited Junk Food

Jodie may love her pizza nights with her kids, but Kelly isn’t into that whole thing. There is even limited junk food allowed in her home. Kelly has some pretty strict rules in regards to junk food. Most parents just work with moderation when it comes to limiting what their children eat but Kelly doesn’t want it in the house at all. She eats healthy and she expects the same for her kids. “They don’t have a choice,” she told Shape magazine in 2011. “We don’t keep a lot of junk in the house, so they eat what’s there, which is a big bowl of fresh fruit.”

1 Jodie Sweetin: She’s Giving Them A Normal Life

Having her children live a normal life is very important to Jodie. She doesn’t want them in the spotlight too much and she wants to give them a low-key normal life. She had a reputation growing up as being a bit of a party girl but that’s not the life that she lives anymore. She actually likes to stay at home on the weekend now with her kids. “It depends on if I’m working or not, but when I’m just enjoying life at home, I’m usually up early getting my daughters to school, off to the gym, home to take care of business calls, cooking dinner and trying to balance my home and work life,” she told People.
