Kevin McKidd of Grey's Anatomy has just announced that he and his wife, Arielle Goldrath, have had a son! They named their baby Aiden.
The happy couple welcomed their first child together on Sunday - making Mother's Day this year even more special. McKidd, 44, posted a black and white photograph of his wife gently nuzzling her baby, who is donned in a soft cap and swaddled tightly in a blanket.
Aiden joins two siblings from McKidd's previous marriage - sister Iona, 15, and brother Joseph, 17. McKidd was married to their mother, Jane Parker, for almost 15 years. The two separated and just recently divorced, but have seemed to maintain an amicable relationship sharing joint custody of their children.
The Scottish actor and his ex-wife finalized their divorce in December of last year, with McKidd agreeing to pay $22,440 in child support. ENews reported that he is also responsible for keeping up the children's private tuition and any camps that they wish to attend.
Physical custody of McKidd's teenage children will be shared in the house that they grew up in, with each parent taking a stay with them. This is a new, modern arrangement that parents are referring to as "nesting". This can provide stability for the kids as well ensuring that have quality time with each parent.
A mere four months after his divorce from Parker, McKidd wed current wife Arielle Goldrath in March of 2018. Their wedding was a low key event, which included a Scottish Ceilidh dance; an homage to McKidd's ancestry. The actor wore a tradition green kilt with matching jacket and vest, while his new bride wore a long-sleeved, lace dress.
Fans of ABC's hit show Grey's Anatomy will see the parallels between McKidd's real life and that of his character, Owen Hunt. On the show Hunt, who plays an ex-Army surgeon, has wanted children for sometime. (This has been a source of angst in basically every relationship his character has ever been in).
As the show begins to wrap up its 14th season, Hunt finally gets the baby that fans have been waiting six seasons for. The infant boy and his drug-addicted mother have managed to pull Hunt and his wife, Amelia Shepard (played by Caterina Scorsone) back into the same house. The season finale of Grey's Anatomy premiers on Thursday, May 17th.
Congrats to everyone in the McKidd clan on their newest addition!
