Rumours have been swirling for months that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are preparing to use a surrogate to deliver their third child. Though the famous couple have yet to confirm the exciting news, tons of media outlets claim to have the details of who the surrogate is and when this is all happening.
After Poeple magazine recently broke the news that the surrogate will give birth in January, it seems pretty safe to say that Kimye baby no. 3 is on its way! But the world still hardly knows anything about the surrogacy. Kim had two very public pregnancies when she delivered daughter North and then son Saint. She was criticized for everything from her wardrobe choices to the amount of weight she was gaining. She was even slammed when news broke that she was looking for a surrogate, with many fans claiming she’s just trying to preserve her curvaceous figure.
This time around, it seems like the entire Kardashian Klan is keeping quiet about their soon-to-be new addition. Given all the flack Kim has got, we don’t blame here. Read on to learn what we do know about Kimye’s surrogate, including the long list of things she can and cannot do, who and where she is, and exactly how much Kim and Kanye are paying her!
Some fans have been slamming Kim for using a surrogate, claiming that she’s only doing it to maintain her curvaceous figure. Others have said it’s because she’s lazy or doesn’t want to have to take a break from the spotlight. But none of that’s the truth. The real reason she’s using a surrogate is because she can’t have a baby any other way.
Kim has previously had two high-risk pregnancies as she suffers from placenta accreta. After delivering her son Saint almost two years ago, doctors told the mom-of-two that it would dangerous and unwise to carry through with another pregnancy, which is why Kim has turned to surrogacy. The reality star has been talking about hiring a surrogate for the past few years and her fertility struggles have been well documented on her show.
“I’d just love nothing more than to expand my family and just know that I have this world at home that’s safe,” Kim has said about expanding her family. “And if for some reason I left this earth sooner than I really wanted to, then my kids would have a support system at home so that I know that they would be okay if I wasn’t here.”
Rumours have suggested that Kim originally wanted her younger sister Khloe to be her surrogate. Kim ran the idea by her sister during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, where Khloe seemed genuinely interested. But the fact that Khloe wants kids in the near future with her boyfriend Tristan Thompson seems to have dissuaded her from agreeing.
"How much money you paying me too get fat, have your child then give it back to you?" Khloe joked when Kim brought up the topic. She went on: "I think I should say to my boyfriend 'I'm pregnant. But it's not yours, and it's not mine! People think we are so weird already, can you imagine?'" Kim responded, “But the doctors definitely say it’s too dangerous for me to carry.”
In the end, Khloe didn’t become Kimye’s surrogate. She’s reportedly trying to start a family with her own man and is probably preparing to become an auntie yet again to the new Kardashian kiddo that’s on it’s way.
We really don’t know too much about the surrogate since her identity has yet to be confirmed. But, after the news broke that she’s due in January, TMZ was able to provide some details on the expectant woman. Evidently, she’s a young mom herself. The media outlet claims she’s an African American woman in her 20s who lives in San Diego. She’s been married for five years and has two sons of her own, so she’s no newbie to this whole pregnancy thing.
TMZ also added that she’s a college graduate, though they didn’t say where she went to school or what she studied. They said she’s in great physical shape, which can help ease pregnancy. Some fans have speculated that Kimye is keeping her on a regular fitness and diet program. TMZ were also able to uncover that she’s a registered Democrat, so she likely shares the same political views as the Kardashian Wests. She sounds like the perfect match!
The media went crazy when the birth month of Kimye’s baby was finally revealed! The surrogate is reportedly due some time in January, which means she’s likely half way through her pregnancy already. Previous reports said she was three months pregnant this past July.
“The entire family is over the moon,” a source told People magazine after the birth month was announced. “Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate.”
They went on, “Given her health scares in the past, Kim felt the need to hire a surrogacy agency that helped serve as the liaison in finding a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye. Both of them have been super involved in the process. They want everything to be perfect and for the baby to be extremely healthy.”
Kim and Kanye are sparing no expense when it comes to the surrogate and their unborn child. The parents are reportedly paying a mini fortune for everything. Though, given that they go on vacations worth hundred of thousands of dollars, this might seem like a great deal to them.
Several media outlets have said the couple are paying an agency $45,000 to arrange the surrogate for them. The surrogate will reportedly receive $5,000 additionally for any other children that might be born, such as if she ends up having twins.
However, there also reportedly exists a long line of rules that the surrogate must follow or else their agreement will be void. Carrying a Kardashian baby is sort of a big deal! The rules state what kind of foods she is and isn’t allowed to ingest. They also state what sort of things she has to abstain from doing, like being around cat litter or using hot tubs. Let’s just say, the list is as ridiculous as it sounds.
Fans are convinced that they know the gender of Kimye’s soon-to-be-born baby. TMZ was the first to report that the surrogate is pregnant with a baby girl. They added that Kim and Kanye are reportedly thrilled to be giving North and Saint a new baby sister.
“We spoke with a notable child psychologist, who tells us North West and baby #3 will probably form a closer bond than Saint might with his new sis,” the media outlet revealed. “And the reason's simple: sisters gravitate to their sisters. You don't gotta tell us. Or the Kardashians, either.”
They went on, “Kind of a bummer for Saint, though- especially since Kim recently said North ‘does not like’ him. And doesn't seem to be getting past the meanie phase.” Whatever the baby’s gender, we’re sure the entire Kardashian-West family will be elated with the new addition- Saint and North included!
There’s a wild rumour going around that the surrogate is expecting twins! Now wouldn’t two babies be a surprise! But given that the chances of multiple births are higher while using fertility practices like IVF, this isn’t really too hard to wrap our minds around. Several media outlets have been reporting that sources have “confirmed” the fact that there are two Kimye babies on the way.
“Kim and Kanye are excited and happy as they are expecting twins with the help of a surrogate,” an insider said to Hollywood Life. “Kim has always wanted twins, and due to health issues has needed the help of a surrogate to make her dreams a reality. It is very early on in the pregnancy so it will be a while before they make anything public.” More and more fans are becoming convinced that Kim and Kanye have two bundles of joy on the way, so maybe this is the real deal.
Obviously, if you’re carrying a Kardashian heir, you’d be treated to the same luxurious lifestyle all family members are. And that’s exactly what’s happening to the surrogate! Multiple sources have confirmed she’s being pampered during her pregnancy and Kimye is ensuring she has everything she could ever need or want.
"The surrogate is being pampered and given everything she wants,” a source explained to Life & Style. “Kim has been checking in and bringing her whatever she needs. So far she has gotten a clean bill of health. And of course the baby or babies will be getting the royal treatment once they’re born.
"Any kids of Kim and Kanye’s will live in the lap of luxury,” a source said. Another insider added, “They’ll all have their own nannies and get constant care and attention. They will also have the top of the line strollers, cribs and car seats, and be dressed in only the best designer clothing."
Given how famous the Kardashians are, of course they would make security one of their top priorities during the surrogate’s pregnancy. The family is even more safety-conscious now after Kim’s infamous robbery in Paris. Even now, there are lots of paparazzo’s trying to figure out her identity so they can get a cover-worthy news story. But the Kardashian-Wests want to make sure the surrogate’s identity stays hidden for her privacy as well as for the sake of the pregnancy.
In order to ensure the surrogate’s safety, Kim and Kanye have allegedly hired a security team to follow her during the pregnancy. "They have hired security for the surrogate, because Kanye doesn’t want to take any chances with the safety of the [baby], even though they haven’t been born yet,” a source told Hollywood Gossip, adding, "The security is very low-key, because Kanye doesn’t want the neighbours to realize the surrogate is carrying their babies."
It hasn’t been officially revealed what all of the things the surrogate can and cannot do are. But rumour has it that Kim and Kanye provided her with an extensive list of foods she’s expected to stay away from. One of the main things they don’t want her eating is raw fish. Hopefully she’s not a sushi fan!
There’s controversy over whether it’s okay to eat raw fish during pregnancy, but it sounds like Kimye are those types of parent who think it can be harmful. Sometimes raw fish can contain parasitic worms that may make the expectant mom sick with symptoms like severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and even extreme diarrhea.
It also goes without saying that the surrogate isn’t allowed to consume any alcohol or illicit substances while carrying Kimye’s baby. We wonder what other foods the reality stars want her to stay away from while carrying their third bundle of joy!
One thing Kim and Kanye are okay with is the surrogate consuming caffeine- in moderation, of course. Guess they’re okay with her having her morning coffee! Reports have said that the couple will allow the surrogate one or two caffeinated beverages per day, but not more.
Research suggests that caffeine can pose harm to an unborn child, though many expectant moms continue drinking coffee throughout their pregnancy. Consuming too much caffeine has been linked to an increased risk of low birth weight, miscarriage, and even stillbirth.
Baby Center explains, “The American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommends limiting your caffeine consumption to fewer than 200 milligrams (mg) per day. That's about what you'd get from drinking one 10-ounce cup of Starbucks coffee.” Professionals recommend switching to decaf coffee while pregnant or cutting it out altogether to be on the safe side.
One of the weirdest rules the surrogate has to follow is that she isn’t allowed to use hot tubs or saunas for her entire pregnancy. Many expectant mammas might think that a dip in a hot tub is the best way to relieve aches and pains, but there’s medical research to suggest it might not be the healthiest.
The American Pregnancy Association states that hot tubs can increase a woman’s body temperature to the point where it could cause birth defects in the unborn child’s skull or spine. It’s also been known to increase the risk for miscarriage. Some pregnant women also experience intense dizziness while sitting in a hot tub, which could cause them to pass out.
Clearly there’s scientific evidence to support Kim and Kanye’s odd rule. It’s always best to avoid things that could cause harm to an unborn baby, even if the risk is minimal. So we don’t blame Kimye for adding this rule to the list!
Hair dye is another unassuming thing that can possibly harm an unborn baby! That’s why Kim and Kanye have made their surrogate agree to skip the salon during the pregnancy. Research shows that some of the chemicals in hair dye could be a risk to a fetus, though it’s still inconclusive as to how much of a risk this might be. Some believe it to be very harmful to unborn babies, though there still exist a huge majority of pregnant women who colour their hair while expecting.
“Although fairly limited, most research indicates the chemicals found in both semi-permanent and permanent dyes are not highly toxic and are safe to use during pregnancy,” American Pregnancy states. “In addition, only small amounts of hair dye may be absorbed by the skin, leaving little that would be able to reach the fetus.” It looks like Kimye might be taking a better safe than sorry approach to the pregnancy, and who can blame them!
Okay, this sounds strange! Kimye have told their surrogate that she can’t be around cat litter while pregnant. Hopefully she doesn’t have a pet cat to take care of! Cat feces contains bacteria that can be infectious to pregnant women. It’s possible to contract toxoplasmosis while changing kitty litter, which can cause flu-like symptoms in adults and be dangerous for an expectant mother and baby.
“If you first get toxoplasmosis when you're pregnant, it's possible you could get sick and pass the illness on to your baby,” Baby Center explains. “And if a baby catches toxoplasmosis in the early stages of pregnancy, it can cause serious birth defects, such as eye and brain damage.” Thus, most professionals recommend getting someone else to change the litter or getting the cat out of the house for the duration of the pregnancy.
Reports are surfacing that Kim’s younger sister Khloe is trying to get pregnant with her boyfriend Tristan Thompson. Some media outlets are claiming that she’s been having trouble conceiving, so Kim has been encouraging her to hire a surrogate just like she did. Amidst her sister’s fertility drama, Kim thinks a surrogate could be the perfect solution.
“[Khloé] has been trying to get pregnant with Tristan for more than four months but so far, no luck,” a source explained to Hollywood Life. “Kim has been pushing Khloé to hire a surrogate." They went on, “Kim’s been flooding Khloé with lots of information. She gave Khloé a list of surrogate contacts. Kim also has a team of lawyers, nutritionists and physicians keeping her surrogate healthy, and she wants to put Khloé in touch with them.” Maybe Khloe will take her sister up on the advice!
