After over a month of speculation, Kristen Wiig has confirmed she and her fiancé Avi Rothman have welcomed a set of twins via surrogate. The new parents have not officially addressed the news themselves, neither on social media nor to the press. But a source reportedly confirmed the news to PEOPLE Magazine, without sharing any details of the twins’ including their names or sex.

In May, BabyGaga previously reported that Kristen may be expecting after she hinted at it during a Mother’s Day special of Saturday Night Live. Not only did the star take a second to thank her mother for raising her, but she said that her mom has helped prepare her for motherhood. “I don’t know if I truly appreciated my mom the first 45 years of my life,” Wiig said at the time. “But this year I’m feeling especially grateful for her advice, her love. I’m so thankful for all the things she’s taught me, like preparing me to be a mom myself.” She ended the segment expressing sadness over not being able to be with her mom on the holiday. “I would like to tell her I love her,” Kristen concluded.

Kristen and Avi have been publicly together since 2016, and they got engaged last year. As of now, there are no reports on when the couple plan to marry. And with two newborns in the house in the midst of coronavirus, planning a wedding may be the last thing on their mind.

In the past, Kristen appeared undecided about motherhood. In 2015, for instance, the actress was pressed by Entertainment Tonight about her plans for starting a family. But the actress seemed content living the single life at the time and having her pet for companionship. "I have a daughter who is a dog," she told the publication. "I've got some great plants that I've had for a long time that I feel like are my children." But, at the same time, the comedian did say in 2013 that she hoped to have kids one day, saying, “I’d like to have a family … I would love to have kids.”

At that time, Kristen had just ended her first marriage to Hayes Hargrove. It’s unclear if they split due to differences on raising a family. But Kristen hinted that she’d only have kids or walk down the aisle again if it was with the right person. “I think it's right for some people, and I know a lot of people who didn't believe in it, then they met someone,” the Bridesmaids star shared.

With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, many couples expecting children via surrogate are being negatively impacted by the situation, with some parents being unable to travel to bring their new kids home. Though Kristen has declined to comment on the birth of her twins, as of yet, there’s hope the star will discuss the topic in the future, especially her experience with surrogacy and if or how COVID-19 impacted the experience.
