To a lot of people, Kristin Cavallari is a lot of things. She’s a former reality television star. She’s a television personality. She’s a fashion maven. She’s a business woman. But at home, she’s a wife and a mom. The blonde beauty shares three children with her husband, NFL stay Jay Cutler and, according to Kristin, she wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

While there’s no doubt that Kristin and Jay have their ups and downs (she does admit to going to therapy) the former MTV star says that everything is tough work: marriage, motherhood, and trying to keep your career afloat in the very cut-throat business she’s in. Here are 10 things we’ve learned about Kristin along the way.

10 She’s Not A Social Media Mom

Unlike a lot of television personalities in the entertainment industry, Kristin Cavallari is by no means a social media mom. While she doesn’t mind talking about her kids and her life as a mom in her interviews, she doesn’t like to reveal too much about them on her social media accounts.

Instead, she keeps the focus on herself and her husband Jay Cutler. Knowing just how ugly the internet can be, she’s doing whatever she can to protect them and their futures. And so far, her fans would agree that she’s doing one great job at it, too. Good job, mama.

9 Being A Working Mom

Even though she does have the help and support she needs at home, Kristin makes it no secret that being a working mom is no walk in the park. In fact, she hates it whenever she has to spend a lengthy period of time away from her three kids, especially when she’s working or traveling across the country.

“I think the hardest part of being a working mom is that I miss my kids a lot. I live in Chicago, but my work is always in New York or L.A., so I always have to travel for my job,” she said back in 2016 in an interview with People.

8 She’s Changed As A Person

When Kristin Cavallari first appeared on MTV’s The Hills, everyone thought they knew everything there was to know about her. But ever since she became a mom, she’s evolved and changed in many ways. She admits that she’s not the same person she was ten years ago, or even a year ago.

She’s constantly learning new things about herself as a person, her family, and een her marriage. Kristin also told People, “When you finally have kids, you realize how selfish you are. I think we are naturally selfish beings. When you have kids, that can be kind of a shock at first.”

7 She’s Always Wanted To Be A Mom

For Kristin Cavallari, motherhood just feels right. She’s always known that she wanted to become a mom. That’s because she feels as though she’s got so much to offer the world and of course, her children.

She’s a giver, and that’s what she loves the best about her job. “There’s just so much more love in your life. I finally feel like I have a real identity,” the model and author told People. “I feel like I have a purpose here in life now. I’m a mom to these three amazing little babies, and my whole world just kind of opened up.”

6 But She Still Takes Time Out For Herself

With that said, Kristin tries to not let motherhood consume her life. Even though she’s a dedicated, hands-on mother, she tries to break away from the everyday to focus on herself. After all, you can’t be your best unless you feel your best, right? A lot of new moms can attest to that. That’s why Kristin hits the gym! “I work out with a trainer three to four times a week, and I just do weight training. I don’t do any cardio,” Cavallari shared with People. “For me, it’s just about building muscle and maintaining the little muscle that I have.”

5 Perfectly Imperfect Marriage

While a lot of other celebrities love to talk about how great their marriages are, Kristin’s not like that. She has a perfectly imperfect marriage with her husband Jay Cutler, and she’s not afraid to say it out loud, either.

She told Parents Magazine: "I'm not ashamed to say that Jay and I consistently go to therapy, because it's been extremely beneficial for our relationship. For example, when you're fighting you should never place blame on your partner by saying, 'you do this' or 'you do that.' You should say how those actions make you feel. It goes a long way."

4 Temper Tantrums

It’s without a doubt we’ve all dealt with it before, right? When asked how she manages tantrums between her kids, Kristin told Parents Magazine in an interview: "Just an hour ago, you would have thought I had cut off one of Camden's legs. He threw the biggest fit because I gave him chicken instead of turkey. He started crying, which made Jaxon cry. It would be easy to get frustrated and start yelling, but I find that what a kid really needs is a hug. I'll say, 'Buddy, what's going on?' That's more effective than me scolding him or throwing him in a time-out."

3 But She’s Always Prepared

Say what you will about Kristin Cavallari, but she’s a mother that is always prepared, regardless of what situation she’s in. With three children under her care, Kristin knows how important it is to make sure everyone is happy at all times.

She even sometimes likes to give her best tips out to moms who find themselves stuck in a rut (we’ve all been there once or twice, right?). Kristin also told Parents: "Have a snack ready before your child gets hungry, and a sippy cup filled before he's thirsty. It keeps crying to a minimum and makes the day so much less stressful."

2 She Gives And Takes Advice

Kristin Cavallari knows that it truly takes a village to raise a child. She knows how important it is to not only share your experiences, but also learn from others. That’s why she’s so close with her group of mom friends in the entertainment world. They not only share the joys of motherhood, but also commiserate about the tough times, too. Kristen said (via Parents): "Orly Shany, my cohost from The Fabulist, said that when she was trying to get her son to sleep, she'd picture him as a 40-year-old man, which instantly made her appreciate the moment she was living in."

1 She Listens To Her Instincts

But with that said, Kristin admits that she also listens to her gut instinct when it comes to making the right decisions and the right time. Because let’s face it: there is no other person on this planet who knows your children the way that you do. And there’s perhaps no two people who love their kids like parents do, too. She might not always have the answers, but she tries. "You should accept advice. It's helpful to listen to other moms' experiences just for peace of mind. But ultimately no one knows what your baby needs better than you,” she revealed to Parents magazine.
