When Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, announced in February that she had given birth to a baby girl, people didn't quite know how to react. The world had already been speculating that the 20-year-old reality star, and makeup maven, might be pregnant, but with her older sisters, Kim and Khloe, also pregnant, it was hard to tell what was fact and what was a rumor.

Kylie put those rumors to rest when she introduced the world to her daughter, Stormi Webster, with boyfriend and rapper Travis Scott, 25, via social media. "Stormi Webster" was the simple caption on the Instagram photo, showing a newborn baby holding her mother's thumb. The stunning little girl was born on Feb. 1.

Since then, fans have been dying to know more about Stormi (and to catch more glimpses of her on social media), as well as to learn more about what a young woman, who's grown up in the spotlight, is like as a mother. Because the public can be mercilessly critical of celebs, especially celeb parents, Kylie has not been exempt from critiques of everything from her post-baby appearance and the frequency of her outings without baby, to her age (she’s only 20) and questions of how she’ll parent her daughter, given her propensity for selfies and shopping.

Fortunately for Kylie, she has a huge support system of older sisters and brothers, as well as involved and loving parents, who are helping Kylie make the transition into motherhood. And from what fans can tell, she’s matured leaps and bounds since giving birth to Stormi.

Take a look at all the ways Kylie has shown the world she’s more than ready for motherhood, and doing an amazing job, to boot.

12 She Kept Her Pregnancy Private

Kylie Jenner, like her four older sisters, is a socialite and social media influencer. At only 19 years old, she had her own reality show, Life of Kylie, as well as nearly 110 million followers on Instagram. In fact, as of 2018, she was ranked as one of the Top 10 Most-Followed people on Instagram, according to her Wikipedia page.

If you've spent any time on her Instagram page, you'll know that she mostly posts snaps of herself: Posing in front of fancy cars or private jets, showing off products from her cosmetics line, Kylie Cosmetics, or flaunting her curves in velour tracksuits and crop tops. To the outside observer, Kylie appears to be a product of the social media generation, someone driven to amass followers through self-promotion.

And yet, when Kylie Jenner became pregnant in 2017, she kept the news on the down-low, only confirming her pregnancy after baby Stormi Webster was born. Instead of spending nine months posting baby bump pics, she removed herself from the spotlight altogether. It's pretty clear that the pregnancy was neither an excuse to gain likes.

Following Stormi's birth, Kylie posted a note to her Instagram, explaining why she kept her pregnancy a secret:

"I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark," she began. "I understand you're used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress-free, and healthy way I knew how."

"Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering and life-changing experience I've had in my entire life and I'm actually going to miss it. I appreciate my friends and family for helping me make this special moment as private as we could... I've never felt love and happiness like this I could burst! Thank you for understanding."

11 She Loves Being An Aunty

At 20, Kylie Jenner may be the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, but friends say it's clear she's always loved children and wanted to be a mother herself. In fact, the Kardashian/Jenner sisters' Instagram accounts are full of sweet candid shots of Kylie smooching and snuggling her little nieces and nephews, or making funny faces to the camera with them.

“No one in Kylie’s life was shocked when she got pregnant,” a family friend is quoted as telling Us Weekly. "Everyone knew she always wanted to be a mom and that was one of her goals in life.”

Kylie's mom, Kris Jenner, admitted this in an interview in March 2018, according to Us Magazine: “I think she was just born to have kids,” she said. “I think that some people are just … when you know, you know.”

It's clear from the way Kylie embraced aunt-hood, that the young reality star was ready and eager to become a mom herself. And now that dream has come true.

10 She Didn’t Cave To Her Cravings

Kylie Jenner, like most pregnant women, had some pretty specific pregnancy cravings. Mine was toasted cinnamon bagels dripped with utter, and giant glasses of ice cold milk. Kylie's, according to Allure magazine, were Eggo waffles, In-N-Out burgers, and doughnuts.

Jenner opened up about her pregnancy in March, when she took to Twitter to answer questions from fans about her new life as a mother. As for Eggos, she admitted: "I never liked them before I was pregnant & haven’t had one since I had her. So strange!"

She also admitted that the hardest part of being pregnant wasn't the strain on her body (I mean, she's only 20!), but not being able to eat sushi. As someone who knows how hard it is to avoid certain cravings when you're pregnant, the fact that she was able to abstain from no-no foods while pregnant (like sushi) says a lot about her commitment to her health and her baby.

9 She’s Keeping Stormi Out Of The Spotlight

If you have friends with children on social media, you'll know how much their own feeds become kid-focused once they become parents. And, while Kylie Jenner kept a low profile online when she was pregnant, fans did wonder if that would change after Stormi was born.

The reality is that so far, Stormi hasn't been featured in that many of Kylie's Instagram pics. That's not to say that Kylie's not posting on Instagram - she is. But her pics tend to feature mostly selfies and photos of Kylie with friends, rather than shots of her sweet little baby.

Before becoming a mother, Kylie actually hinted at a secret desire to scale back her social media presence once she started a family of her own:

"I would love to have a family and build a home with a farm in Malibu Canyon and just have my kids and throw away my phone, and just really, like, live my life and not do this anymore," she told ELLE UK magazine in 2015.

"Once I have a kid I’m not going to be on Instagram. You know, I’ll probably delete my Instagram and just… I don’t know, live life."

While she obviously hasn't deleted her Instagram account, she's certainly sticking to her promise to keep the focus off her daughter.

8 She’s Getting Help From Her Sisters And Mom

One of the hardest things for many new moms to do is admit when they're tired/overwhelmed/sad/uncertain... and then ask for help. That's because moms these days are expected to be superwomen: Giving birth, breastfeeding, looking after older children, making amazing organic meals from scratch, throwing Pinterest-inspired parties, exercising and - in many cases - working. The expectations we put on ourselves can seem insurmountable.

The truth is, having a newborn can be incredibly overwhelming. Babies don't come with manuals, and no matter how many hours you've devoted to prenatal classes, or how many books you've read, once that baby is home and in your care, looking after him (and yourself) can seem totally daunting.

According to Life and Style Mag, Kylie Jenner has done what so many of us were afraid to do ourselves: Admitting that caring for a newborn is hard, and asking for help from her village.

"She ... still struggles with the sleepless nights and the baby crying and not always being able to figure out what Stormi needs," a source is quoted in Life and Style Mag, adding that mom Kris Jenner really pushed Kylie to open up to the idea of accepting help.

"Kylie has been relying on Kris to help out but her mom has a lot of other things going on," the source said.

And who better than Kris Jenner to turn to for baby advice? The famous TV personality and business mogul has six children and four step-children. And we're beginning to lose count of the number of grandchildren she has! (Just kidding - she has nine!)

7 She Hired A Nanny When Motherhood Got Tough

Celebs who hire nannies get a lot of flak, and I'm not quite sure why. They have demanding careers that require them to work long days and travel frequently. In addition to that, American women have grown up in a country that doesn't encourage moms to take maternity leave (in fact, the U.S. doesn't offer parental leave to new parents), so the mentality really is to have babies while working - and finding a way to balance it all.

How parents manage this lifestyle is beyond me. And as a working parent, I can totally understand the necessity to hire a nanny to help care for your baby as you try to keep up with a hectic work schedule.

And, while Kylie Jenner was dead-set against having a nanny or any kind of outside help - other than family - after Stormi was first born, the reality of looking after her baby, while continuing to work was more than she could manage. Eventually, she hired a nanny.

Kylie had every intention of raising Stormi without nannies but it didn’t take very long for her to admit that she needs help,” a family friend recently told HollywoodLife.com. “She went three nights in a row without really sleeping. After that, she broke down and hired (help).” Good on her. It takes a village to raise a child, and moms need all the help they can get!

She's Building Her Relationship With Stormi's Dad

By all accounts, Kylie Jenner and boyfriend (and rapper) Travis Scott, 25, are totally in love. The couple had only been dating for a matter of months when Kylie became pregnant with their daughter. According to People Magazine, they aren't living together - yet. Instead, the happy couple is co-parenting and working on continuing to build their relationship. In fact, in March 2018 - a month after Stormi was born - the couple took a mini trip to Miami, without Stormi, where they enjoyed a seaside brunch together and took a cozy yacht ride, before Kylie took a return flight back to L.A., according to Elle.com. "Kylie and Travis love spending time with Stormi, but need to spend time together as a couple too,” a source told Elle.com. “Kris (Jenner - Kylie's mom) is happy to babysit for a few hours so Kylie and Travis can spend time together." Right on. Parenting can seem relentless, even when we love our children more than anything in the world. Nothing is quite as rejuvenating as stepping away from our children to re-group, have some adult time, and keep building up on the love we have for our spouse... so that we can come back to parenthood refreshed!

She Made A Tear-Jerker Tribute To Her Daughter

If there were ever any doubt that Kylie Jenner was sentimental, that doubt is gone, after the new mom released a tear-jerker of a video in honor of her new daughter. The video, titled "To Our Daughter", begins with footage of Kris Jenner (Kylie's mom) the in hospital, getting ready to deliver Kylie. "We're waiting for you, Kylie!" says a man's voice off-camera, presumably Caitlin Jenner, adding: "It's going to be okay," as Kris nervously smiles at the lens. The video then cuts to an image of a crying, newborn Kylie being placed into the arms of her mother, who's wiping away tears of joy. The 11-minute video then cuts to Kylie's best friend, Jordyn Woods, talking to the camera as if she's speaking to Stormi, about how she found out the baby was coming: "There's one thing that your mom knew for sure, and that was you," she says to Stormi. The touching video includes images of Kylie and Travis kissing, Kylie caressing her belly bump at her baby shower, shots of ultrasound machines, and it ends - coming full circle - with crying Stormi being placed in her mother's arms. Watch it, and try not to cry.

She's Taking Mom-Shaming In Strides

Kylie Jenner had only been a mother for a matter of days before she started getting mom-shamed online. It all started when the new mom posted a pic on Instagram of her with Stormi, and apparently, fans and followers weren't thrilled with the length of the makeup mogul's nails.

“I really wanna know how Kylie Jenner changes a diaper w her nails that long,” said one Twitter user. Another quipped: “Don’t wanna be a b**ch but the length of Kylie Jenner’s nails tells me all I need to know about her parenting/lack thereof.”

And: “How the eff does @KylieJenner wear such long nails with a newborn? I can’t even go long without scratching my own face!”

“I want to know how Kylie Jenner changes her babes diaper with two inch nails and I struggle with not getting poo under my millimeter nails,” said yet another.

To her credit, Kylie's let the comments slide right off her. Moms are superheroes - there's no shortage of things we're able to accomplish while looking after our kids... including changing diapers while sporting a totally amazing manicure.

Incidentally, the pic of Stormi holding Kylie's finger - seen above - is the most-liked photo in Instagram history, with nearly 18 million likes... and counting.

6 She Has A BFF To Help Co-Parent

Little Stormi is already a very lucky baby: She's got a huge circle of aunts, uncles and grandparents who love and cherish her, as well as doting parents in Kylie and Travis.

But, Stormi also has an amazing aunty in Jordyn Woods, Kylie's best friend. Just after Stormi was born, Kylie posted a video on Snapchat of Jordyn holding the newborn, with a caption asking "Can they get any cuter"?

Jordyn helped keep Kylie's pregnancy a secret until after Stormi was born, and since then has been a huge source of support for her best friend, according to People.com. In fact, Kylie told fans on Twitter that when she found out she was pregnant, Jordyn's response was: "Okay, well I guess we‘re both having a baby." Now that's support.

"It's just a whole new experience," Jordyn told People, of Kylie becoming a mom. "It's something you nehave neverone through, but you figure it out as you go. I think that it takes a really strong woman to carry a child."

Jordyn also says that her relationship with Kylie has remained constant and true, even since Kylie became a mother.

"If anything, I feel like no matter who you are friends with, no matter what happens, the more you experience together, the more you grow and the more you figure it out. It's just about growing up. We are growing up now and it's cool."

5 She’s A Hands-On Mom

When you're a new parent, there's no good barometer for how you're doing. Most of us feel a perpetual sense of quiet guilt, no matter how much we try to be the perfect parent for our kids. We often feel like we're not giving enough of ourselves, or tending to their needs in the way they truly need.

But, there's really no better self esteem boost than to hear, from your own mother, that you're kicking butt at the whole parenting thing. Which is exactly what Kris Jenner is saying of her youngest daughter when she boasted: “I think she was born to have kids."

“She loves it,” Kris Jenner told reporters at Dr. Paul Nassif’s Nassif MD Medical Spa Grand Opening Party, in Beverly Hills in March. “She’s doing really, really great. The baby is happy and healthy and everybody’s good at home and so excited.”

“It’s overwhelming when you’re that young, and so things go by so fast and the moments slipped by. So enjoy it because all of a sudden they’re 30.”

4 She's Buying Eco-Friendly Baby Products

Parents these days are raising their children in a society of abundance and choice. Not only is the market saturated with more baby- and kid-related products than we can fathom, but we have the option to buy baby products that are gentler on the earth than they once were in the past.

From easy-to-use and adorable cloth diapers, to compostable baby wipes and cribs made from reclaimed materials, even the most earth-friendly parent can find baby gear that doesn't weigh on their conscience. And this totally jives with new parent Kylie Jenner, whose parenting philosophy includes buying and using products that are natural and environmentally-friendly.

According to TMZ.com, Kylie has spent thousands of dollars on natural, organic, eco-friendly baby gear for little Stormi and her nursery, including ethically-sourced wooden toys and furniture. She also bought a $3,500 hand-finished Bancroft changing table, a $400 organic premium crib mattress, and handmade, wooden teether bears from the forests of South Chile, which are reputedly coated in a non-toxic bee's wax and cold-pressed flaxseed oil.

I wonder if any of this stuff is on Amazon!

3 She's All About Family

There's nothing like generational shots - the kinds that show babies in the arms of grandmothers or great-grandmothers - to really remind us who we need to thank for raising us, shaping us, and giving us all that we have.

When her baby was born, Kylie Jenner snapped just such a shot, of her own grandmother (Kris Jenner's mom) Mary Jo Campbell holding newborn Stormi, with the caption: "I mean... does it get any better than this?"

And it isn't just Kylie's family that's lavishing the new baby with love. Earlier in April, when Kylie and boyfriend, Travis Scott, took baby Stormi to Texas to meet Scott's family, they were reportedly enraptured with the little girl. Scott's brother, Joshua, posted a picture online of him holding his niece and smiling from ear-to-ear. The caption read: "So happy to finally hold my beautiful Stormi."

It's clear that family is incredibly important to both Kylie and Travis, and that they are surrounding their new baby with the love and support of the people who care for them most. Kylie's right: It doesn't get any better than that.

2 She Designed Heart-Warming & Symbolic Nursery

For the past few weeks, Kylie Jenner has been offering fans little glimpses into Stormi's nursery by way of Snapchat, and it's pretty adorable.

The room, styled in pale pink and soft grey tones, is butterfly-themed, and there's a sweet meaning behind this decor choice. Turns out, butterflies have a special meaning for Kylie and Travis, so much so that some people even thought Stormi's name might be "Butterfly."

The couple has tiny matching butterfly tattoos on the back of their legs, which they shared on Snapchat way back in June 2017, after Scott released his song "Butterfly Effect." Fans have long-since speculated that the song was about Kylie.

For those who don't know, The Butterfly Effect is the idea that one small benign event (like a butterfly flapping its wings) can create a ripple effect with much larger consequences (like creating a tornado). Perhaps that's why they named their baby Stormi?

1 She's Empowering Other New Moms

Now that Kylie has gone through the scary/empowering/emotional experience of giving birth, she's ready to give advice to other moms-to-be.

Back in March, Kylie hosted an impromptu Q&A session on Twitter, where she answered fans' questions about her pregnancy, birth, and new life as a mother to a newborn.

When one Twitter user, who admitted to being pregnant herself, asked Kylie about the experience, she gave the best response possible: "I wasn’t afraid! & you shouldn’t be either. We were made for this," along with an emoji for a flexed, muscular arm.

There's a nurturing side to Kylie that her fans - and the world - are just starting to see, and it seems to be inspired by her new role as a mother. And, if Kylie can boost and support other women, even strangers, Stormi will have a wonderful role model as she grows up.
