Going from one child to two is no easy feat, and that’s not only because the parents have twice the responsibility now. Part of the challenge is introducing your firstborn to the new baby and making sure the transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible. For Orange Is the New Black star Laura Prepon, she and her husband didn’t have the slightest clue what was in store for them when they introduced their daughter to her newborn baby brother. Prepon explains the toddler had a very primal reaction to realizing she’s no longer the only child in the house.

Prepon recently appeared on Live With Kelly and Ryan for a virtual interview in which she shared the hilarious story. "We brought him in to introduce him to our daughter and in her bedroom, we have this pretty cloth tepee. There’s a bunch of blankets in it and stuffed animals where she plays,” she explained. “We brought the baby in and introduced them and … she ran into the tepee, took off all of her clothes, stared at us and just peed on everything.”

The actress and her husband, Ben Foster, have been married since 2018. Their daughter, Ella, was born in 2017, while their son Elijah was born this past February. Prepon admits she should’ve freaked out when she saw the mess her daughter made, but the star says it took all of her strength not to burst out laughing. “It was the most primal marking of territory,” Prepon, 40, went on. “And we were trying not to laugh because we didn’t want her to think it was OK for her to pee on her stuff, but it was so funny.”

At least now the siblings appear to be getting along better. Prepon says her daughter has become very attuned with her younger brother, going so far as to cry when the baby cries.

Prepon’s road to motherhood hasn’t been easy. In March, BabyGaga reported that Prepon had to make the difficult decision to end her second pregnancy after receiving a diagnosis. The That ‘70s Show star found out she was pregnant again in 2018, shortly after welcoming her daughter, and was excited to have baby no. 2 so soon. But during a scheduled sonogram, the celebrity couple got sad news – their unborn baby was suffering from cystic hygroma, a rare condition that impacts the healthy development of the lymphatic vascular system. The doctor told Prepon the pregnancy wasn’t viable, and encouraged her to terminate it to prevent further heartbreak.

“To get to the second trimester and then be told this awful news, I felt like a failure,” she explained at the time. “I felt like my body had failed and failed having another baby. The whole cycle of what’s wrong with my body came back.”
