Madonna may be a mother-of-six, but it sounds like the pop star may not be done growing her family. While speaking to Today, the celebrity left the possibility of more children open.

"Um ... not right this second," she replied when asked if she wanted more kids. "But never say never." Madonna has been preparing for her Madame X world tour, which starts in September, so it’s unlikely the singer would want to add another child to her brood with all that’s going on.

In fact, Madonna recently admitted that her fame has been difficult for her children. “I think they wish I wasn’t Madonna,” she said during an appearance on The Graham Norton show. “I think it would be less challenging, in their minds, if they didn’t have me as their mother.” She went on to add she was “anxious” about her upcoming tour, implying being on the road was a struggle for her six children.

Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes Leon, whom she shares with her former partner Ciccone Leon, is already 22-years old and studies at the University of Michigan. The singer went on to welcome son Rocco in 2000, with her then-husband Guy Ritchie, whom she remained married to from 2000 to 2008.

While together, Madonna adopted a son, David Banda, in 2006 from Malawi. She had been performing a charitable concert in the state when she fell the pull to adopt the little boy. “What David has more than anything is focus and determination,” she told Vogue last year of her youngest son. “I’m pretty sure he got it from me. He’s the one I have the most in common with.”

After the end of her marriage, Madonna went on to adopt three more children. She adopted her daughter, Mercy, from Malawi in May of 2009. At the time, the move was contentious because the singer was not a resident of Malawi, although the Supreme Court eventually granted their approval over the adoption. Madonna adopted her youngest two children, then-4-year old twins Esther and Stella, from Malawi in 2017.

Despite her controversial image and hectic work schedule, the singer has always maintained her children are her greatest joys. If one thing is clear, she’s not worried about balancing here large brood with her career demands. “Being a single parent of six children, I continue to be creative and be an artist and be politically active, to have a voice, to do all the things that I do,” she said to Vogue. So there isn’t anybody in my position.” So, fans shouldn’t be surprised if she does, in fact, add to her brood in the coming years!
