A man is being charged for stabbing a mother and her baby.
On Wednesday police responded to a call reporting that a woman and her baby boy had been assaulted in their home. First responders quickly made their way to the address at 2:15 pm. Emergency personnel found a 21-year-old woman and a baby inside and both of them had very serious and life-threatening injuries. Both of them were quickly rushed to the hospital. The woman is currently in serious condition but she is stable while in the hospital. However, the baby remains in critical condition. Authorities say that they had arrested 27-year-old, Denis Erdinch Beytula who had stabbed both the mother and the baby. He is now being charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Cole, of Northumbria Police, made a statement to the community. He said that a mother and her baby have been seriously injured and he knows that the community is going to rally around them and help their family through this devastating time. He shared that it has been a very difficult investigation and the entire community is in complete shock. He shared that he is very thankful that the mother has improved overnight but she is still in very serious condition. He said that she is awake and he is currently talking in the hospital which is great. However, he then shares that the baby boy remains in critical condition and the doctors have been doing everything that they can to save his life. They are continuing their investigation and they hope that everybody knows that the man has been charged for his actions.
We are really hoping that the mother continues to improve and she is able to leave soon. Our hope is that the little baby begins to start to improve that he is able to start recovering. We hope that he will eventually be able to get to go home with his mom and go on to live a normal life.
