A man saved a baby who was thrown from a window of a burning building!

An unidentified South Carolina man is being labeled a hero, after saving the life of one little baby who had to be thrown from a burning building so that he would not die in the fire. It is a case of a good deed really being its own reward. The man refuses to be identified, despite becoming a local hero.

It all started Tuesday evening with a nasty fire at the Ashford Cove Apartments in Anderson, South Carolina. As the blaze grew out of control, one woman realized her only chance to save herself and her child was to drop the baby to a complete stranger waiting below.

One of the residents in the building, who had managed to get out, started filming right before the baby was dropped. Although it was a very close call, the unidentified man saved the baby’s life. The child’s mother also jumped out of the window, almost immediately after she knew her baby was safe.

Firefighters on the scene say it is a miracle that neither the mother nor the baby were seriously injured during the escape. The baby has some minor cuts and bruises but nothing that will have lasting consequences. Because of the fire, one of the building’s residents was hospitalized and paramedic was as well. Each of their conditions is not known at this time.

Witnesses say the man, who has been adamant about keeping his identity private to the media, did let the fire chief shake his hand and thank him. However, that is all the praise and thanks this man wants. It is kind of amazing that no one has come forward with his identity, but considering it is his wish to remain a mystery, it is also a blessing.

This was a truly inspiring story about a man who was not looking for his 15 minutes of fame. He simply wanted to help out during a very terrifying time. It is heartwarming to hear of someone doing such a good need and refusing recognition for it. Perhaps we can all learn a little something from the South Carolina mystery hero.
