This movie is being talked about everywhere. The posters and commercials alone could make anyone cry and the movie is known as the movie who will make you burst into tears uncontrollably. Many do not know that the main character of Hazel Grace Lancaster, played by Shailene Woodley, is actually inspired by a young woman who lost the battle of thyroid cancer. Her name was Easter Earl.

Ester, from Massachusetts, lost her battle with cancer in August 2010 at the age of 16. John Green, the author of the now famous book, met the young lady at a Harry Potter conference and became close friends. Upon her passing, he paid tribute to her on his site stating "This Star Won't Go Out." Ester was very big on social media and you can still find her inspirational videos on YouTube.

Her parents also put out a book called "This Star Won't Go Out: The Life & Words Of Ester Grace Earl" which contains her drawings and notes. Inside the book was a letter that she wrote to her future self: "If you haven't done something amazing, don't forget to try," 14-year-old Esther tells her future self. "The worst that can happen is you fail, and then you can just try again until you succeed."
