Meghan Markle might be on maternity leave since giving birth to her and Prince Harry's first son Archie in early May this year, but she still manages to set aside some time to work on projects that are close to her heart. The Duchess is officially on maternity leave but has been spotted on one official royal engagement so far, the Trooping Colors event that is held to celebrate the Queen's birthday. Baby Archie was not attending the royal event, and according to rumors, both Prince Harry and Meghan have been enjoying family time with their precious baby in their new home, Frogmore Cottage.

One of Meghan's project is her involvement in the animal welfare charity Mayhew Animal Home, for which she is a patron. The Duchess of Sussex was asked to write the foreword for Mayhew's annual review, and she makes it perfectly clear how much she loves animals. In the text, Meghan explains how adopting a pet brought a "life-changing joy" to her life, referring to her two rescue dogs, Guy and Bogart. The Duchess also went on praising Mayhew for their community-based approach, and the measures they take to prevent dogs and cats from ending up in shelters.

As reported by ET Online, sources are suggesting that Meghan has been invited to guest edit the September issue of British Vogue. While it has not been confirmed yet, the Duchess has reportedly been working with editor Edward Enninful to formulate her vision for the issue, and it will focus on lifting several humanitarian accomplishments done by women all over the globe.

Meghan's vision for the September issue is also reported to include other projects that lay close to her heart, and if these rumors are true, it is safe to assume that the copies will be flying off the shelves. Perhaps animal welfare will be one of those causes, as the Duchess ended her foreword for Mayhew Animal Home urging everyone to do their bit to support the charity.

Meghan gave birth to Baby Sussex, as her and Prince Harry's son is lovingly referred to, less than two months ago, so no one is expecting her to be working much at the moment. The new mother is obviously busy tending to her little bundle of joy, but she seemingly can't stay away from projects that are important to her.
