While there’s no doubt that motherhood has certainly changed Meghan Markle, it looks like it has also changed her style and the way that she wears her hair as well. As a matter of fact, many royal observers couldn’t help but notice that the Duchess of Sussex has been sporting a different hairstyle ever since she gave birth to Archie Harrison back in May. Gone is the delicately swept messy hair bun in favor for a new sleek style that a lot of people have been raving about. However, there’s a good reason behind it, too.

According to Express.co.uk, a lot of people couldn’t help but note that Meghan Markle has taken on a new look. Even though she’s only made a handful of public appearances since giving birth to Archie Harrison, she’s worn her hair pulled back to each one. One of the reasons why the Duchess of Sussex might be wearing her hair this way is to hide a very common post-pregnancy hair issue. Celebrity hair stylist James Johnson told the publication that there’s a strong possibility that her hair might have started to fall out after she gave birth.

He said, “When you're pregnant your hair cycle stops so you don't shed any hair, so when you give birth, all the hair you should have lost in the nine months falls out over a quick period. Meghan may have opted for a scraped back bun to prevent her hair from further damage. If her hair was damaged during pregnancy, putting her hair up will prevent it from further damage.”

And while a lot of people have previously criticized her for her “messy” and unpolished bun look, Johnson thinks that she might be trying to “silence” her critics, so to speak, while also wearing a style that is an easy hair hack for many new moms. As a matter of fact, new mothers often don’t have the time to style their hair, especially when they have a small baby to tend to, and that’s why they simply choose to wear a sleek bun look in order to look classy without putting much effort into it, either.

The Duchess of Sussex even wore her hair back in a bun while she and her husband Prince Harry were on hand for the Lion King red carpet premiere in London last week.
