A mother was rightfully offended when a midwife told her that her c-section wasn’t a real delivery. It’s safe to say she has some stern words.

Nama Winston went into labour a month early after she went to the ER for extreme vomiting, which doctors discovered was listeria poisoning, The Sun reports. Doctors determined there was no time to waste and ordered an emergency c-section; Winston was given an epidural only 15 minutes before her son arrived. "It went smoothly,” she explained. “My son was shown to me briefly and then whisked away to the NICU as his lungs were not fully developed.”

The next morning, Winston awoke to a midwife in her room that she described as disgruntled. “[She] seemed almost angry,” the new mother explained of the midwife, who took her vitals. However, things quickly went downhill when the midwife had some choice words about the mother’s c-section. Winston says the midwife told her: "Why on earth did you have a C-section? I mean, you'd gone into labour.” The midwife added, "You could have pushed. You could have had a proper birth."

Winston proceeded to explain to the nurse that her poor health could have put the baby or herself at risk, which is why the doctors recommend an emergency c-section. To this, the grumpy midwife reportedly replied, "Oh well, that was the doctor's call, I guess. Doesn't make sense to me." Before leaving the room, the midwife asked the mom, "You won't even breastfeed, will you?"

The new mother admits she was at first affected by the midwife’s harsh comments, but she soon realized just how in the wrong the midwife was. "Was she accusing me of making a wrong decision, when I had no idea what was happening to my body and my baby except that he was in danger?” Winston asked. She was perplexed as to how the woman didn’t see her as a “real” mom because she had delivered via c-section.

But Winston concluded, “But she was wrong. I was a mother. Not only did I have the baby to prove it but I knew it in my heart."
