Being a dad is something that changes your entire life, whether you like it or not. Becoming a parent alters you on a fundamental level. Suddenly, you're cancelling plans with your friends to heat up bottles and change diapers, despite drunkenly promising them that you'll never be a caged animal. Doesn't that seem silly now? Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin has opened up about his foray into the world of fatherhood.
The WWE star welcomed his first child, Monroe Sky, with wife Maryse in March of this year. Speaking to US Weekly, the new dad dished the dirt on what it was like being responsible for another human life. As it turns out, he's loving every moment. "I'm at her service no matter what," gushed the 37-year-old. "I've never had anyone have so much control over me."
Despite their blossoming young family, the couple are still living very active career lives. Miz and his wife are on the road with WWE a whopping 200 days a year. Even traveling for a weekend with a newborn is difficult, so we salute you on that one. He's also just finished filming a bunch of TV shows, and they're filming a reality show, Miz and Mrs. See what they did there? The star insists it's all about teamwork when it comes to making parenting easier.
"I'm a night owl so I usually stay up at night while my wife sleeps," he explains. "Then whenever I sleep, my wife takes over. Literally, we're just tagging in and out." Miz also had some pretty touching things to say about how he approaches parenting. Warning: it might make you melt. "I wanted to be the dad that was able to feed my daughter, hold my daughter, really be there for my daughter. I want to be the dad that's here. I want to see her." In this business we call a show, that's pretty darn admirable if you ask us. Who needs a nanny when you've got a daddy like that?
The wrestling hero went on to share candid stories about projectile pooped all over him. We feel you, Miz. Been there and got the poop soaked t-shirt.
