Don't expect Miley and Liam to become a family-of-three in the future.
Ever since Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth married in December of last year, fans have been wondering when they’ll have kids. But it doesn’t sound like that will be happening anytime soon, if ever.
During a new interview with Elle magazine, Miley revealed that she’s not planning on having children due to the rise of climate change. She said she wouldn’t feel comfortable having kids children “until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water.” She added, “The Earth is angry.”
The singer-actress went on to criticize the pressure women face to have children, saying, “If you don’t want children, people feel sorry for you, like you’re a cold, heartless [person] who’s not capable of love.”
Miley also brought up the controversial abortion laws taking force in various states recently. “When [having kids] isn’t a part of our plan or our purpose, there is so much judgment and anger,” Miley said. “They try to make and change laws to force it upon you—even if you become pregnant in a violent situation.”
The celebrity also added, "Why are we trained that love means putting yourself second and those you love first? If you love yourself, then what? You come first.” she added.
This isn’t the first time she’s called out the conservative laws. This past June, Miley made headlines when she showed off a ‘Abortion is Healthcare’ cake on social media, making her stance on the issue very known. The musician later faced backlash, however, when the cake she shared ended up being a rip-off of another artist’s design.
Now, the news that Miley doesn’t want to start a family is also making headlines, especially given that her husband has already talked about wanting kids. In fact, just this past May, the actor told GQ that they would definitely have kids eventually.
"Yeah, one day. Once we don’t have so many dogs,” he told the publication. “You couldn’t bring a baby into our house right now. But one day, we’ll know when it’s right. But right now? Not for the time being.” He also added that the wants a lot of kids, saying “10, 15, maybe 20.”
Last October, though they maintained that he couple wanted kids, a source said it would definitely be a few years before they had any. “Having children right now is not first on the list,” the insider told Hollywood Life. “Her and Liam are in a good place and kids will happen, but sometime in a few years most likely.”
Given that it’s previously appeared the couple would definitely have kids sometime in the future, we wonder if both Miley and Liam are on the same page about waiting until the climate sees change before starting a family. Because if that’s the case, they may never have kids in their lifetime.
