In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Mindy Kaling opened up about the time her daughter paid a visit to Oprah.
For the screening of their film, A Wrinkle In Time, Oprah invited the cast to her home for a viewing. The cast of this classic novel-turned-movie was robust with A-list stars including not only Oprah and Kaling, but Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Zach Galifianakis.
Needless to say, Mindy was nervous to bring an infant into not only Oprah's house, but to an event where silence is golden. Kaling, however, had no choice but to bring her daughter, Katherine, who was born in December of 2017.
The new mom described to DeGeneres that she was scared that if her baby became fussy during her visit, it might distract from the show and garner them unwanted attention. It was Oprah's house, after all. Nobody wants to upset Oprah.
Not to worry - Kaling's baby apparently has incredible instincts. When they entered what the TV star called "the nicest home in America", Katherine became silent. Her eyes grew wide and Kaling joked that her baby must have known whose house she was in.
The star of The Mindy Project also talked to Ellen about how she was not a baby person. She laughed as she detailed that she was not sure about how to approach an infant - shake hands? Say hello?
Although she was not always sure that children were in the cards for her, Kaling has seemed to adjust quite nicely to motherhood. She gave DeGeneres some details on her daughter, including her happy temperament and her ability to eat 24/7.

Kaling, 39, has still remained silent on who the father of her baby is. The birth certificate was obtained by the media but the actress opted to keep the dad's name off of the document. The paper does show, however, that the newborn's middle name is Swati, which is the moniker of Kaling's late mother.
There are really no guesses as to the paternity of her child, as Kaling has not been spotted with anyone publicly since 2012. The actress has said that some members of her family were shocked by the news of her pregnancy, especially ones who had been hoping for something more traditional for her.
