Trigger Warning: death, violence

Jennifer Rothwell went missing this past November from St. Louis, Missouri. According to her husband, Beau Rothwell, his wife left for work on the morning of November 12th but failed to return home at the end of the day. However, new evidence obtained during a search of the couple’s home reveals there’s much more to the story.

According to Café Mom, Jennifer’s online history reveals she may have been pregnant before she disappeared. Amongst the various things she searched, she reportedly Googled "What to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant" on her phone. Since the shocking discovery, authorities have arrested and charged Jennifer’s husband with her murder.

When Jennifer first went missing, her husband reported that she left their home around 6:20 a.m. Later that evening, however, a co-worker informed Beau that Jennifer never made it to work, leading him to call the police. He informed police she was around six weeks pregnant. Beau also stated that the couple had a normal evening the day before, which had included watching TV and cooking dinner.

However, Beau’s story didn’t seem to add up from the beginning. When he reported his wife missing (and subsequently their vehicle), police realized that the car had been found abandoned on the side of a road 12 hours prior. The car showed no signs of a crash or a physical altercation. Jennifer’s cell phone was also inside. Café Mom reports that Beau became increasingly uncooperative with authorities. He refused to provide a DNA sample and wouldn’t let authorities search his car, phone, or home without a warrant.

Even more suspect, a trash can filled with cleaning supplies- including rubber gloves, paper towels, and a receipt of purchase- were found outside of the Rothwell home on November 13th. The receipt confirmed Beau had purchased the items on the 11th, during the time he claimed to have been home watching TV with Jennifer. Footage from the store also confirmed that Beau was the purchaser.

This discovery allowed the police to obtain a search warrant. Leaked court documents reveal authorities found large red stains at the bottom of the home’s basement steps; the sample later tested positive for human blood. The area was damp and appeared freshly cleaned, though the stain was still prominent. DNA samples provided by Jennifer’s parents confirmed it was her blood. Jennifer’s online history later confirmed that she was fearful of her husband, adding motive to the case. The following day, Beau was charged with his wife’s murder.

Jennifer’s remains have since been recovered and prosecutors are moving forward with charges against her husband.
