At the end of May, Victoria's Secret Angel, Romee Strijd announced that after years of trying to conceive, she was finally expecting a baby with husband, Laurens Van Leeuwen. The beauty has not made any indication since the announcement, along with updates that she has provided to fans, that she has any preference as to what the gender of the baby is. However, over the weekend when Strijd and Van Leeuwen held a small gender reveal party, the model was all smiles when it was revealed that the couple is expecting a baby girl.
Strijd and Van Leeuwen chose an outdoor, wooded location to host their reveal party. On the way there, Strijd looked to be a combination of excited and anxious as the moments got closer to finding out what gender their baby would be.
Once the couple made it to the gender reveal location, they made their way to an open space to push the trigger on a can that would release blue or pink smoke depending on the gender of the baby.
A crowd of people counted down from 10 and when the countdown was over, Van Leeuwen set the can off. Out came a cloud of pink smoke and the couple knew that they were going to be parents to a little girl. The duo was noticeably thrilled at the reveal, and the glowing mother-to-be had a radiant smile that went from ear to ear.
Considering the fact that Strijd wondered if she would ever be a mother, getting to this point is a bit of a miracle for the model.
After not getting her period for seven years, Strijd thought that her biggest dream of being a mother was not in the cards. After finally being diagnosed with PCOS two years ago, the model did some research on her condition. She quickly realized that the form of PCOS that she had was rare. Strijd's body was in a constant state of fight or flight, which meant there never was an opportunity for her hormones to get to the levels necessary to allow for a period.
Instead of going the traditional route of using medications to try to get her body's internal rhythm back on track, Strijd instead used holistic methods to heal herself. This included no longer restricting what she ate, no more extreme workouts, and making sure that she got enough sleep. After just a few short months of putting this plan into action, her period returned. And once that happened, Strijd was able to conceive her baby.
While Strijd loved her time as a Victoria's Secret Angel, that part of her life has been put on pause. The mother-to-be is busy enjoying her time leading up to what her dream has always been, which is becoming a mom.
