Pretty much every magazine or online blogger urges moms to take some time out for self-care, but carving the time needed in one’s daily schedule can be more difficult than originally imagined.

Metro writes that British mom Lisa Ryan was housebound after the birth of her second child and since it took her close to six weeks to fully recover, she was understandably anxious about going out in the world once more. She attempted to make some time for herself and her new child by joining playgroups, but Ryan admitted she began to feel very anxious when it came to socializing with her fellow new moms.

That’s when she came up with the brilliant idea to create a business of her own that allows mom to get some self-care time and bond with their child without having to make awkward small talk with other parents. Ryan quit her job as a real estate agent and launched Spa Babies in June 2019 and designed the sessions so that new moms and their babies can have a relaxing day to themselves.

Spa Babies welcomes mothers with newborns and babies that are nine months old or less; the little ones also get a chance to unwind with a bath inside of a tub has both a shower and a function that can create gentle whirlpools. Ryan also makes sure that mother and child get plenty of time for what she calls “positive touch” full of kisses and caresses; not only does this help new moms learn to communicate with their infants, but it can help babies release endorphins and regulate their sleeping patterns.

Spa Babies went from hosting one session a week to seven sessions per week thanks to the glowing reviews from her first clients; word quickly spread around town and now Ryan is making a ton of money doing what she loves.

One client, in particular, is forever thankful to Ryan and Spa Babies; Samantha Whitehouse goes every two weeks and gushed over how the sessions were so helpful in keeping her five-month-old son Mali relaxed. She even pointed out that after the first few sessions at Spa Babies, Mali was a lot calmer than her eldest son had been as an infant and credits Ryan’s ingenuity for allowing moms and babies to have a safe space to just relax and de-stress.
