Mother was fined for letting her child go pee in public grass outside of a gas station.
Most of parenthood is trying to "go with the flow" and winging everything. Parents have to always think on their feet, because kids are constantly keeping us on our toes. As parents we always have to figure out what to do if our children surprises us with something new. One of the constant battles that parents of young children have to face is all of the fun events of potty training. Kids pick the most inconvenient times to tell us that they need to pee even if we asked them a million times if they needed to go before we left the home. However, "they didn't need to go then!" For one mom, she faced what most of us face, her son needed to pee at a very inconvenient time and she had to figure out how to respond.
Brooke Johns and her 3-year-old son , Cohen, were happily driving. She said they were driving when out of nowhere her son needed to pee RIGHT NOW! She said that he kept on telling her he needed to pee and he was very frantic about his predicament. She kept on telling him that he would have to wait and he told her that he couldn't wait and that he was going to pee in his pants. She pulled into a gas station and Cohen told Brooke that he wasn't going to make it to the bathroom and so she put him on some grass and started pulling down his pants. As his pants were coming down, he started peeing. She knew he wouldn't have been able make it much longer. Good they made it. No big deal now right? Well, she got a citation for "disorderly conduct."
The citation read "She allowed her male child to urinate in the parking lot. I observed the male’s genitals and the urination. Public restrooms are offered at the location.” Brook could not believe that a police officer would give her a citation for having her child pee in public. He is three years old. She didn't know what he expected her to do. He wouldn't have made it to the bathroom, so he would have just peed all over in the gas station, or all over the floor of the bathroom. She was completely shocked that this officer was paying more attention to a three year old's genitals and not looking for criminals.
Obviously this citation is completely ridiculous! Hopefully no judge ever makes her pay such a ridiculous fine! And who in the world would make this mother spend time in jail for letting her child go pee in some public grass? Come on people! Brooke, we are so sorry you have to deal with this!
