A mother of fourth gave birth to her fourth child. Shortly after the birth, she experienced a massive heart attack and she doctors say that the heart attack was due to her pregnancy.

VIA NBC News

Clorinda Godinez is a 30 year old Texas mother. She has four beautiful children. Her home is loud, crazy, wild and she said she loves every minute of the chaos. Godinez recently delivered her fourth child, Calisia. Godinez had a very straight forward pregnancy and delivery. She was healthy and her daughter was healthy. She had no complications and it was what every mother hopes for in their pregnancy.

Her daughter was only 8 days old when Godinez said that she all of a sudden started feeling the most intense back pain. She said that she couldn't even function and so her family brought her back to the hospital. The doctors quickly did some tests and determined she was having a heart attack.  Godinez's heart stopped and the staff had to perform CPR to revive her. She was then transferred to Baylor Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

The doctors continued to do more tests and found out that she needed to receive a special surgery that needed to be performed at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital in Dallas. Godinez was transferred. The doctors are calling Godinez a complete miracle. She should not be alive today. The surgery was successful and the amazing doctors were able to save her life.  Dr. Amarinder Bindra, MD, who specialized in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology said that she suffered with  peripartum cardiomyopathy, which is a form of heart failure that happens right before, or soon after giving birth. Doctors do not know why some women have this happen.

Dr. Bindra performed the surgery on Godinez. Bindra implanted a Left Ventricular Assist Device, or LVAD, that does what a failing heart can't by pumping blood to the rest of the body. Godinez was then put into a medically induced coma for three weeks. During the three weeks, the doctors allowed for skin-to-skin bonding with her and her new daughter. Godinez's survival is just miraculous and she really shouldn't have survived, but she did. She is now healthy, and back home with her family. We are so glad she survived, so that she can still be there for her husband and children.
