New Study Reveals More Than Half of Kids Want To Spend More Time With Their Parents

Parents can get overwhelmed and busy. Sometimes parents get caught up in their own lives, their own goals, and trying to get their to-do lists done that they often forget about spending time with their children. Kids hear quite a bit, "just a second," "I am busy," or "not right now" many times a day. The world is actually becoming more hectic and is being filled with more distractions that are causing parents to not spend as much time with their children. Moms and dads are being more consumed in their phones, television, gaming devices, and other pieces of technology than they ever have before. Parents sometimes sit and mindlessly swipe through their social media feeds while their children are begging for their attention.

According to a new poll, children don't feel like they are spending as much time with their parents as they would like. The poll showed that 73% of children were not happy with the amount of time they were spending with their parents and wish that they could spend more quality time with them. The kids were not alone though. Parents apparently are not very happy with how much quality time they are getting with their children. The poll reported that 70% of parents wished that they had more opportunities to spend with their children.


Kids don't require big and expensive vacations in order to fulfill their needs to spend time with their family. The kids were asked what they would want to do with their families and the top three activities were a day at the beach, playing a sport together, and spending the day at an amusement park or a museum. The children were also interested in playing card games, playing board games and even going to the movies. Parents don't realize that kids are pretty simple and they don't expect extravagant adventures in order to feel like they are getting quality times together as a family.

Parents are encouraged to put down their phones, turn off the television and spend time with their children. Kids just want to feel like they are bonding with their parents. It is so important to spend quality time with children because childhood goes by so quickly and you will regret not spending more time with them.
