Cody Davis and Ashton Rebbert were arrested last week for criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of their two-month-old infant. Authorities are still currently investigating the actual cause of death of the baby, but they believe that improper care was the culprit.

At around 11 a.m., police received a call about an unresponsive baby. Upon arriving on the scene, they found the baby dead. The Ogdensburg Police Department suspected the infant’s parents and arrested the pair. While they were still unsure that they were the particular cause of the baby’s death, the first suspects are always the parents. Any good parent would never leave their child unattended or alone to the point that their life is threatened.

Davis and Rebbert were charged with criminally negligent homicide that led to their baby’s death. They were sent to the St. Lawrence County Jail, and the judge has set their bail for $20,000 cash and $40,000 bond each. While they’re waiting for their trial, the couple will be spending some time in custody reflecting on what they’ve done.

Details of the investigation have yet to be released, but the Ogdensburg Police Department is working with the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s office, the New York State Police, the New York State Forensic Investigation Unit, and the New York State Computer Crime unit to solve the case. With so many eyes on the situation, the truth is sure to be revealed soon, and justice will be served. Unfortunately, no matter what they do, they won’t be able to bring back the baby.

The young couple (Davis 23 and Rebbert 23) lost their child due to their own negligence. Whether this be because of their inexperience as parents or it was willful negligence, the couple will be paying for the consequences of their actions. To lose your own baby, no matter what age you’re at, is traumatic and will forever haunt you. They’ll spend the rest of their lives looking back to see what they could’ve done to save their child.
