After a scary encounter at a local park, Paloma Faith swears she won’t leave her house until her second baby is born. The singer is currently expecting her second child after a long fertility struggle that included six rounds of IVF. However, she admits she’s been especially on guard during this pregnancy given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, in which pregnant mothers and their babies are considered at high-risk for complications from the novel coronavirus.

The expecting mother shared an image of her growing baby bump to Instagram. In the caption, she took a moment to describe a scary incident that happened when taking her 4-year-old daughter to the park. “My anxiety is through the roof,” she wrote before explaining that several fans approached and her child while they were out for a walk. Though the fans were well-intentioned, it made Paloma nervous given the risk of spreading coronavirus.

“I felt like I was going to break down into tears begging them not to come near us as I scrambled to put both our masks on,” she wrote. While she describes the fans as “kind and empathetic,” the songwriter said this may be the final time she ventures out of the house before giving birth. “I vowed that would be the last time I step outside my house again until the baby is born,” she added.

Paloma went on to reflect on how difficult it was for her to become pregnant for a second time, leading her to feel extra protective of her unborn baby. “I couldn’t help thinking about all the effort that goes into trying to conceive a child through IVF,” she wrote. She said that the experience made her fearful not only for herself and her unborn child, but also her 4-year-old daughter.

The celebrity mom ended her post by adding how fearful she is to give birth in the hospital when she eventually goes into labor. “I’m worried about going into the hospital and catching it there, too,” she said, adding that she’s bought “n99 masks” in preparation. However, after having a traumatic and complicated birth experience with her first child, the singer says she’s worried about having to stay in the hospital for an extended period of time again.

This isn’t the first time Paloma has opened up about her anxieties over being pregnant during the pandemic. Earlier this month, BabyGaga reported on how scared the singer felt to go the hospital for prenatal check-ups. In a similar Instagram post, she reflected on having to visit the hospital and observing the “exhausted staff,” as she described them. “Going into the hospital feels like a risk,” she explained in the caption. She explained the various precautions she takes, including wiping down door handles with an anti-bacterial wipe and putting her clothes straight into the laundry upon returning home.

Paloma originally announced her pregnancy in September, though she hasn’t updated her fans on her exact due date.
