We’ve seen plenty of videos where parents surprise their children with the news that they will get getting another sibling. Sometimes older siblings are excited to have another baby in the house, and sometimes hilariously not excited at all. However, a video has resurfaced that shows how a couple in Texas surprised their older daughters with not just an announcement, but with their actual baby sister!

LittleThings recently retold the story of Shane and Kasi Pruitt, parents to now five beautiful children in Rowlett, TX, and how they kept their newest addition to their family a surprise from their older children. The couple told reporters that their children knew they wanted to adopt another child, but their kids did not know that and adoption was already in the works. The parents kept this fun secret for 10 months, because they did not want their children to be disappointed if it didn’t actually go through. Then on July 25th, 2017, Shane and Kasi received a phone call that their baby was ready for them.

After bringing their new daughter home (her name has not been released for privacy), Shane recorded the reactions of his older daughters, Harper and Raygen, then shared the video on social media. The younger sister Harper is heard shouting “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” Then both of them are seen jumping up and down in excitement for their new sibling. Raygen becomes overcome with emotion and cries as she looks at her new baby sister. Their father asks at the end of the video, “Are you going to love her?” Both girls instantly reply “YES!”

The video went viral very quickly and everyone sent the family love and support for adopting the baby girl. The Pruitts are a wonderful example to others about the adoption process and how sticking through the tough times reaps a great reward. Adoption can be a more complicated, and expensive, process than people realize. There are home studies, agency fees, and classes parents must take in order to be considered adequate candidates for adoption. And all of the paperwork doesn’t just become approved overnight. Also, there is an unfortunate chance that the adoption may not go through even though everything was lined up for it to happen.

We are thankful that the Pruitts shared such tender moments of their daughters with the world and that they showed the exciting part of the adoption process: bringing baby home.
