Most youngsters jump for joy when they find out that they’re going to be getting a younger sibling. After all, a new little brother or sister to play with is usually a pretty exciting notion to most kids – unless they happen to be five-year-old Braylee McCall, who recently had a less-than-enthusiastic reaction to her mom’s pregnancy announcement.
Luckily, mom Tiffany captured it all on film, which was picked up by the Daily Mail. The minute-long video begins with Braylee sitting on the couch and tearing into a curious pink gift bag, containing a t-shirt, tiny baby shoes and undeniable, picture-perfect proof of the upcoming little one – an ultrasound photo.
After casually tossing aside the other items, Tiffany asks Braylee if she has seen the “picture”, which seems to pique the little girl’s interest slightly more than baby booties. She examines the ultrasound photo for a brief moment before Tiffany asks her if she knows what she is looking at. Still appearing slightly puzzled, Tiffany decides to clear things up once and for all.
“You’re gonna be a big sister,” she announces from behind the camera. That’s when things start to get interesting.
Instead of jumping up and down or asking a million-and-one questions, Braylee is convinced that she is being pranked.
“Are you just kidding?” she repeats, over and over. When it becomes clear that this is very real, Braylee does something completely unexpected: she rips up the ultrasound photo and tosses it aside – much to the shock (and amusement) of everyone in the room.
While Braylee isn’t the first kid to be let down by the news of a new family member (and probably won’t be the last), we have a feeling that once the baby arrives, her feelings will be mended and she’ll be proud to show off her new brother or sister – both on and off camera.
As for the photo?
Maybe they can request a reprint.
