The world watched her grow up and now, Bindi Irwin is tearing up in a new Crikey! It's The Irwins trailer as she tells her family about her then-new pregnancy.
The tender moment, captured on film for the third season of the reality show captures the daughter of the late Steve Irwin, clad in the family's brown Australian Zoo uniform, choking back tears as she shared the news of her forthcoming baby.
“We’re actually expecting to have a baby,” the 22 year old announced. In the clip, her husband, Chandler Powell, is seen holding a newborn-sized Australian Zoo uniform for the upcoming addition to the clan.
The episode also features the reopening of the zoo following the coronavirus shutdown of 2020. It's another moment that causes an outpouring of sentiment from the mom-to-be. She celebrated the moment by remembering her father, who first brought the family into the zoological limelight.
“We will make sure to carry on in dad’s footsteps and make sure that everything he lived and died for continues on,” Bindi promised.
It was in August of 2020 that she and Chandler announced to the world that they would be welcoming a new generation of Irwins. The Instagram post left little question as they revealed it in a way that is perfect for a family of animal handlers.
“Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021,” she captioned. “Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honor to share this special moment in our lives with you.”
The next month, they told the world that the new family member would be a girl, making her an official Irwin Warrior Princess. The new season of Crikey! It's The Irwins will be exclusive to Discovery Plus streaming and debuts on February 7th.
