Pregnant Brittany Matthews is giving fans a sneak peak at her baby’s nursery. The 25-year-old expectant mother has given viewers many progress updates and was excited to show off her hard work on Instagram. She’s expecting her first child – a girl - with fiancé and NFL star Patrick Mahomes.
Matthews gave viewers a 360-degree view, showing a pink and white adorned crib full of stuffed animals, pink curtains, and a moon wall installation that reads, “You are my sun, my moon and all my stars.” She pointed out the new wallpaper for those fans that watched the first video last fall of her initial nursey plan. The original wallpaper didn’t stick to the wall, so she’s updated to a pink and white design. Comfortable rockers and other furniture are positioned throughout the room, though Matthews has said she thinks their two dogs may be claiming a spot, as frequent visitors to the plush and inviting chairs.
According to PEOPLE, the couple has chosen not to reveal their daughter's name until after the birth, so fans watched as she carefully skipped the portion of the room where the baby’s name is placed within the design. She later describes the “mess” left after the initial decorating, showing boxes still unpacked and furniture to assemble. Since the couple’s pregnancy announcement, Matthews has enjoyed sharing her experience as a first-time mom.
In the first few months, the fitness trainer encouraged other expecting mothers to keep up their exercise routine as she continued to work out and eat healthily. However, throughout her journey, she’s also given moms the advice she’s learned along the way. “GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE!!!,” Matthews wrote on a recent Instagram post. She said pregnant mothers can be too hard on themselves and her workouts can fluctuate from week-to-week and sometimes not at all. She advised fans to continue moving, drink lots of water and eat healthy calories.
Life and Style Magazine recently looked at how Matthews and Mahomes met, revisiting their high school days at Whitehouse High School in Texas. The fitness pro said she and Mahomes were best friends but nothing more. Mahomes gave Matthews a Valentine’s Day card and a rose in front of the entire cafeteria. The somewhat “embarrassing” moment between the two developed into dating and eventually falling in love.
Matthews recalls watching Mahomes grow in his football career, staring on the field as a senior in high school and then moving on to Texas Tech. “It was surreal to see him living his dream and seeing him grow as an athlete and as a man in general was just amazing,” Matthews said.
After eight years together the couple announced their engagement in Sept of 2020 and announced their pregnancy less than a month later. The two are looking forward to the next chapter as they begin their family.
