American Idol judge Katy Perry, 35, is going to be a mom and she's letting loose about the kind of mothering skills she'll be bringing to the table for her baby!
Perry, who is expecting her first child with actor Orlando Bloom, 43, posted a clip of American Idol to her Instagram on April 5. The clip shows a montage of Perry making a few statements after watching a hopeful contestant walk away from the show's Hawaii location, which was taped in January and February before the "shelter in place" order was issued due to COVID-19.
Perry makes three separate statements in the clip. "I'm the toughest bi--h." "I'm gonna be a good mom." "My kids are always gonna get it straight."

She captioned the video clip post on Instagram with, "West Coast, are you watching me hone my maternal instincts on #AmericanIdol right now?"
Another video clip that was posted the same day on Instagram of presumably the same episode since Perry is wearing the same pink and orange floral dress shows her making a rather harsh statement to a contestant who is not shown on the clip. "It's not enough to be a good singer," Perry says. "It's not! I'm sorry!"
Since Perry posted the clip to her account, we have to assume that she must be proud of her tough-as-nails attitude. Does all of this mean that the Grammy nominee going to be an overly strict parent?
Maybe not but it's hard to know what to take away from her statements. Perry Instagram follower @dudebon666 commented, "Be kind to children. You never know if your child will have a crystal clear memory like me! I remember everything (sic) that my mother and dad did to me! And I (sic) mean everything!"
Perhaps Perry is just playing it up for the show. If she is planning on being a strict mom with her child, it would be interesting to know how Bloom feels about that since he already has a child. Bloom shares 9-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife, Miranda Kerr. Reportedly, Perry and Flynn get along well, which bodes well for the future blended family dynamic.

During a March concert, Perry announced that she hopes her unborn baby is a girl and the singer got her wish recently. She posted a photo to Instagram of Bloom's face covered in light pink frosting to make the happy announcement.
For a refresher, Perry and Bloom's relationship began back in January 2016 at a Golden Globes after-party. The two went on an official date soon after. In March 2017, the couple announced they were taking a break before they were seen back together in August of the same year.
In February of 2018, Perry announced to Entertainment Tonight that they were officially back together. The couple hit the red carpet together for the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco in September 2018 but Perry and Bloom really took their relationship to the next level in 2019. Bloom sold his Beverly Hills home so that he and Perry could move in together and the couple got engaged on Valentine's Day.
And now here we are in 2020 and a little Perry/Bloom baby girl is on the way! Perhaps only time will tell to see if Perry will be the strict parent that she is portraying herself to be on Instagram.
