The Triplets of Instagram have arrived!
Iben, Agnes and Filip, a natural set of triplets from Denmark who amassed a gigantic following on social media before they were even born made their grand entrance yesterday at Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen.
Mom Maria, 36, shared the update early yesterday morning along with photos of each of the babies, plus a family photo with them snuggled in their parents' arms.
"At 08.55, 08.56 and 08.57 today we welcomed our beautiful babies to the world," she captioned. Everyone is happy and healthy.
Maria - who is originally from Norway - and her husband Anders, 40, were already parents to now two-year-old Mikael when they decided to give him a little brother or sister. They got more than they bargained for when, without fertility treatments, they discovered at their first ultrasound that they had naturally conceived a set of fraternal triplets. On her Instagram page, Maria candidly shared the story of how the triplets came to be, as well as a brief history of her family.
The couple met on Tinder nearly five years ago and moved in together six months later. Maria has enjoyed a successful career in television, working as a producer on the Copenhagen version of MasterChef, and Anders, who has an MA in piano from the Rytmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, works as a freelance web developer and in his spare time, plays in an indie rock band.
Their love story isn't the only thing this family has candidly shared with the world. Maria has been documenting her growing belly for months, beginning right around the moment the family discovered they were expecting their surprise trio. She has shared everything from comparing her first and second pregnancies side-by-side (spoiler alert: she's much bigger the second time around!), shopping for a minivan (for obvious reasons), and even an incredible week-by-week photo chart documenting the growth of her baby bump.
Maria's humour, honesty and openness about navigating a triplet pregnancy and the shock that initially came with it has clearly won over the internet. Today, her Instagram account has a staggering 154 thousand followers. Maria says she has no regrets about sharing her experiences because the photos are an incredible keepsake she will always have to look back on.
"I’m glad we took these pictures, because this collage really shows the massive growth," she said. "It’s strange to have ended up with such a big belly and it’s even stranger that it can stand out like that without falling down."
The odds of conceiving natural triplets is thought to be roughly one in 4,400.
