This is one secret she can’t keep! Pretty Little Liars alum Shay Mitchell just revealed she’s expecting her first child with a gorgeous topless photoshoot.
The actress uploaded the glamorous shot, in which she was wearing only a pair of black harem pants and chunky goal earrings. Her carefully placed hands covered her best, but her burgeoning baby bump was on full display. “Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?” she hilariously joked in the caption.
Shay followed the photo up with a video documenting her pregnancy journey thus far. She also explained a bit why she was reluctant to share her good news earlier on. “I didn’t want to come out on social media so early on,” she said. “Months of hiding, it’s been a really lonely journey. I think pregnancy is awesome, for the most part, but it’s also really […] lonely.”
Shay has been dating 38-year old Matte Babel since January of 2017, and this will be the first child for both of them. However, this isn’t the star’s first pregnancy. Several months ago, she opened up about experiencing a devastating miscarriage in 2018.
“The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams,” the celebrity opened up in her Instagram story during an end-of-the-year post.
At the time, she also went on to reveal she was motivated to share her story so her followers realize not everything is as picture perfect in real life as it seems online. “We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life,” she continued, while sharing a photo of the ultrasound from the pregnancy she miscarried. “And sometimes it’s easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity.”
Perhaps the next announcement fans can expect from Shay and Matte is an engagement announcement. When they first went public with their relationship, a source told Life & Style that the couple was getting so serious that marriage was already on their mind. “Shay and Matte are getting quite serious,” the insider revealed “Matte instantly fell for Shay,” back when he interviewed her about her new horror film, Cadaver.”
