Even though Prince Harry has always hinted that he would love to have a big royal family of his own, it looks like he might have recently had a change of heart.
As a matter of fact, the prince stated that he only wants to have two children in his life, and that’s it. Harry and his wife Meghan Markle just welcomed their son, Archie Harrison, back in May.
While speaking to Dr. Jane Goodall for a special interview that he conducted for the September issue of British Vogue, the two talked about having a child makes you think a little differently about the environment and the world that surrounds you. That’s when the Duke of Sussex said that he and his wife only plan on adding one more child to their royal family.

Earlier this summer HRH The Duke of Sussex met with world renowned ethologist Dr. Jane Goodall for an intimate conversation on environment, activism, and the world as they see it. This special sit-down was requested by The Duchess of Sussex, who has long admired Dr. Goodall and wanted to feature her in the September issue of @BritishVogue, which HRH has guest edited. HRH and Dr. Goodall spoke candidly about many topics including the effects of unconscious bias, and the need for people to acknowledge that your upbringing and environment can cause you to be prejudiced without realising it. The Duke described that “[when] you start to peel away all the layers, all the taught behaviour, the learned behaviour, the experienced behaviour, you start to peel all that away - and at the end of the day, we’re all humans.” • Through @RootsandShoots the global youth service program @JaneGoodallInst founded in 1991, she has created and encouraged a global youth community to recognise the power of their individual strength – that each day you live, you can make a difference. “Two, maximum!” Prince Harry said, according to ABC News. “But I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”
The statement caught a lot of royal fans by surprise as Prince Harry has been the one member of the monarchy that has always had a special connection with small kids and babies. He’s managed to delight his fans for years each time he was either photographed or filmed playing and goofing around with children during his public appearances and royal engagements. In fact, many people have even called it one of Prince Harry’s best qualities.
Now as far as what made Harry change his mind about the number of children he and Meghan Markle want, no one knows. The prince didn’t provide a further explanation nor did he share any details about their family plans.

The Duke of Sussex made a special visit to Sheffield today to see workers, academics and students doing their part to help their community. At Sheffield Children’s Hospital, The Duke supported the opening of a new wing that extends the resources available to patients and their families. This was an especially meaningful visit both publicly and personally as The Duke signed the visitors book that his mother, Diana Princess of Wales signed in 1989. At Sheffield Hallam University The Duke celebrated the incredible teaching and research staff and saw firsthand their Virtual Reality rehabilitation project. He also met with youth activists and academics working with the World Health Organisation and the UN to develop new technology to assist in aid work during crises around the world. Today was a prime example of just how many people work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this world better for others. We all have the opportunity to do something impactful every single day. “Nature needs your care. Animals need your attention. People need your light. The world needs your love... How can you make a difference in the world? Help one person at a time.” Matshona Dhliwayo Photo©️PA images / Empics - Doug Peters
With that said, there’s already speculation that Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton might be looking to add a fourth child to their own clan. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are already parents to their three children: Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and 1-year-old Prince Louis.
So far William and Kate haven’t made any comments of their own, but some fans are even better that the Duchess of Cambridge will get pregnant again by the end of the year.
