Rachel Zoe can’t understand why some people make a deal about her son’s long hair, as she recently pointed out the decision isn’t hurting anyone.

The celebrity recently opened up to People about her son Kaius’s famously long locks. Rachel shares the 5-year old with her husband, Rodger Berman, who she’s been married to since 1996. The long-time couple also share 8-year old son Skyler. The star said she just can’t understand why some people are so affected by her son’s long hair choice.

“For the record, my son thinks he has cool surfer hair,” she told the publication. “At the end of the day, it’s not like I’m torturing him. He loves his hair. He thinks it’s cool.”

The only thing that bothers their family about the situation is people unnecessarily commenting online about it. “A few days ago, someone said something [on Instagram] like, ‘You know, Rachel, I think at this point your kids are old enough to where they’re going to start being made fun of for their long hair,’” Rachel continued. She added, “‘You should really cut it and be nice to your sons.’ I responded with, ‘Please unfollow me.’”

She added that criticizing a celebrity who’s an adult is one thing but picking on a child takes thing to a whole new level. “I think anyone who takes the time to insult someone’s child is pretty much a horrific human being,” she said.

Rachel largely keeps her kids off social media and given the sorts of comments she’s used to receiving, we can see why. But the celebrity doesn’t want people to think that means her kids aren’t the center of her world. “My kids and my work are my life,” Rachel explained. “If you don’t see my kids, I’m not sharing a huge part of my life with my followers. I’m pretty obsessed with them.”

Rachel Zoe isn’t the only celebrity whose child has been criticized by their followers. Recently, Baby Gaga revealed that Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling’s 12-year old son Liam had been body shamed on Instagram.

“He said, ‘Dad, am I obese?’” Dean explained on his podcast Daddy Issues. “I said, ‘Look buddy — there’s some sick people in the world … and they need to say bad things about people.’” He added, “Think about it, son. You have a busy life. You have school, you got sports. Do you think you have time to go on Instagram, scroll through the people that you’re following, and make a negative comment about somebody?”

Tori has also previously spoken out against the hate celebrity kids receive online. “Celebrities have feelings and then when you cross a line and you go after children […] that is just wrong and shame on you,” she told Us Weekly.
