Hollywood star Richard Gere, 70, is expecting his second child with Spanish wife, Alejandra Silva, 36, nine months after the birth of their son, Alexander. The baby is expected to arrive sometime next spring.

The couple, who have been long-time family friends, started dating in 2014, while Silva was going through her divorce with her first husband, Govind Friedland. They got married in April 2018, and an insider reported to People, “They're so comfortable with each other, have fun together, and are looking forward to their future together." A close friend of the Pretty Woman star stated that he “has been much happier in this half of his life because he is settled, confident and doing what he likes.”

Alejandra herself had stated at that time, "I feel like I'm in a true fairytale. Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world." And the actor who had pursued his lady love, with flowers till the time she agreed to date him added, "I'm the happiest man in the universe. How could I not be? I'm married to a beautiful woman who is smart, sensitive, committed to helping people, who's fun, patient, who knows how to forgive, who's a great cook – and who makes the best salads in the world!"

The Spanish magazine Hola! had published their exclusive wedding photos in May 2018. The ceremony was held in New York. It was also the first to break the news of the birth of the couple's first child in February, and now it has shared the happy story of the couple’s second pregnancy.

They both have children from previous marriages. Gere is the proud father of Homer James Jigme, 19, with ex-wife Carey Lowell, while Alejandra, who is from Spain’s north-west region of Galicia, is a mother to six-year-old Albert, whom she shares with her ex-husband Govind Friedland.

When Silva was pregnant with his first child, The American Gigolo actor said in a UK newspaper interview that he was “not at all" bothered about being an older parent, and he wanted to be a "hands-on dad.”

The couple has yet to reveal the news of their pregnancy to the world. And we hope it’s going to be done as sweetly as the last time. If you remember the Instagram post shared by Alejandra, you will surely keep an eye on her posts. The excited mum had shared a calm photo of the Dalai Lama blessing her bump, captioned, "Getting blessings for our precious to come… We couldn't announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama."

Screen icon-turned humanitarian activist Gere and his wife maintain a low profile and have not yet shared any comments on the news of their second-time pregnancy. Many Spanish newspapers have echoed the news, including the nation's leading publication El Pais. We wish the couple the heartiest congratulations and eagerly await their confirmation.
