Family isn't really the first word that starts with the letter "F" that we think of when it comes to rockstars. These men and women are people who live on the edge — the type who like to push boundaries, get people excited, passionate, upset, and ready to take on the world. In short, there's no other genre of music that does this job quite like rock. Sure, rap comes close, but rock is far more diverse in its style and appeal.

Because of this, we tend to like our rockstars, especially the boys, to be free from the bonds of marriage, kids, and related obligations. This is because we live vicariously through them. Everything they seem to be is what we wish we were or wish we knew and were with. But, in reality, the performers we see onstage are just characters.

These men are often dads who attempt to be positive and more responsible examples for their own children. This list will briefly delve into the lives of 20 of the most famous rockstars in modern history. Each and every one of them has impacted rock in the past and present and will continue to leave their mark forever. But they also are (or were) family-men, husbands... dads. Without further ado, here are 20 of our favorite rock musicians off of the stage and with their loving families.

20 Let's Imagine Dan Reynolds As A Papa

Imagine Dragons is currently one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Although the band contains a number of notable talents, Dan Reynolds is easily the most famous. And when Reynolds isn't belting out "Radioactive", "Believer", "It's Time", "Whatever It Takes" or "Shots" he is spending time with his wife, Aja Volkman, and his daughters. Not too long ago, Reynolds and his wife welcomed twin girls Gia James and Coco Rae into the world. The twins join their eldest daughter, Arrow. As we can see in this photo, Reynolds isn't the stylish and moody rockstar all the time. He is a loving dad who isn't unhappy wearing scrubs at the birth of his girls.

19 How Many Kids Does Gavin Rossdale Have Anyway?

Does anybody know just how many kids the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Bush has? Gavin Rossdale, who helped to form Bush, was once married to Gwen Stefani, whom he had three kids with. Of course, they are no longer with one another, but it apparently has nothing to do with the fact that in 2004 Rossdale found out that he had another kid from a brief relationship he had with a woman in the late 1980s. So, to answer the question, Rossdale has a total of four children. In this photo, we can see him still being the cool rockstar he is while carrying one of the kids he had with his talented wife from No Doubt.

18 Kurt Cobain Rocks Out With Frances On The Carpet

Kurt Cobain, the guitarist, lead writer, and frontman of the rock band Nirvana may just be one of the most famous rockstar dads of all time. Before his untimely passing, Cobain made tons of news for how he raised his daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, with her baby-mama, Courtney Love. Both parents had their fair share of issues while raising their daughter as well as took her to events that just weren't suitable for someone her age, like the scene depicted in this image. Obviously, Frances is way too young for a loud red carpet like this. But still, Cobain wasn't above carrying around his baby's bottle in order to include her in all the fun.

17 Dave Grohl's Daughter Learns To Fly

Without a doubt, Dave Grohl is one of the coolest, and seemingly the nicest, rockstar on this list. The dude started off as the drummer for Nirvana, which is easily one of the greatest bands of all time. And then he founded the band Foo Fighters, which he is the lead vocalist, primary songwriter, and rhythm guitarist for. Seriously, the guy is one of the most multi-talented musicians out there with an incredible track record. But even with his current band one of the most popular in the world, Grohl still had time to settle down and marry Jordyn Blum, pictured here. Together they had three daughters, Violet, Harper, and Ophelia. As we can see, this rockstar is more than happy to carry his daughter down the street while his wife drinks her Starbucks. If we didn't know the truth of his genius, Grohl could pass as any other dad.

16 Lenny Kravitz Grew A Superstar

Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz may just be as famous as her rockstar father, Lenny Kravitz is. Of course, Lenny, AKA Romeo Blue, is the man responsible for such hits as "Fly Away", "Low", "Can't Get You Off My Mind", "Heaven Help", and "Dig In". He's also the epitome of "cool", which we can see here in this photo. Even though he's not jamming out on stage, he maintains his sleek, stylish, and classy demeanor while embracing his daughter and his baby-mama, Lisa Bonet. Their daughter, Zoe, has been around superstars all her life. Not only are her parents famous, but her step-dad is Kahl Drogo and Aquaman himself, Jason Mamoa. Of course, nobody can be as cool as her pop.

15 Bruce Bombs A Family Photo

As we can see, "The Boss" himself, Bruce Springsteen isn't above photobombing his children's photograph. This is both the most Bruce Springsteen thing to do and the least Bruce Springsteen thing ever. Of course, we only know Bruce from his on-stage and record work with the E-Street Band. Springsteen is obviously one of the biggest and most talented notable musical talents of all time. After all, he's responsible for such hits as "Born To Run", "Land of Hopes and Dreams", "Born In The U.S.A.", "Racing In The Street", and "Prove It All".  Seriously, the guy has no shortage of megahits! But here we can also see that he's responsible for his three gorgeous children: Evan, Jessica, and Sam. These are his only children he had with his wife of almost thirty years, Patti, who was once a member of his band. Yep, this guy truly is a family man.

14 Reuniting With A Daughter He Didn't Know He Had

Aerosmith superstar Steven Tyler definitely had a challenging go of things in the early part of his work life. Of course, he put these problems on himself and caused him to completely forget years and years of his life. This is precisely why fashion model Bebe Buell decided to keep their daughter from him and pretending that she was the offspring of Todd Rundgren. Of course, this daughter turned out to be Liv Tyler, star of The Leftovers and, of course, The Lord of the Rings. Later in life, Liv was told about the identity of her father, and Steven was told that he actually had one... Ever since then, they've been inseparable, as we can see from this red carpet photo. Tyler also had his daughter Mia with Cyrinda Foxe and fathered Chelsea and Taj with his ex-Teresa Barrick. Because of this, this rock-god is also now a grandfather.

13 Gary Clark Jr. Goes For A Stroll With The Fam

Fans of the DCEU will recognize Gary Clark Jr.'s edgy rock-and-roll voice from the Justice League soundtrack, which he sang "Come Together" for. But true fans of this music legend know work like his songs, "Bright Lights", "This Land", "What About Us", "Don't Owe You A Thang", "When My Train Pulls In", and "If Trouble Was Money". Clark Jr. is also best known for the specific style he brings to his tunes, which is a fusion of blues, rock, soul, and hip-hop. But Clark Jr. is also a family man. He's been married to Nicole Trunfio since 2016 and the even has two children with her, Zion and Gia. In this photo, we can see a far more normal-looking Clark Jr. strolling down the street with his wife and one of his kids.

12 Old-School Rockstar Portraits Featuring Paul McCartney

How is this a photo of one of the most famous, influential, and notable rock-and-roll stars of all time? Seriously, Paul McCartney looks totally ridiculous in this image. But this was the reality of the 1970s, when this image was taken. In this photo, Paul is alongside his first wife, Linda, and three of the four children he had with her. After her untimely passing, Paul had another daughter with Heather Mills. But this image was taken long before that. It was taken out front of The Beverly Hills Hotel and depicts the family as quite... well, normal. This is especially odd since Paul was currently in the middle of a very successful life with the band Wings after many years of being with a little-known band called The Beatles... You might know them. They're responsible for songs like "Come Together", "Let It Be", "Blackbird", "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", "Across The Universe", "Hey Jude", "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", "All You Need Is Love"... (take a breath)... "Here Comes The Sun", "Penny Lane"... seriously... we could go on and on and on...

11 Black-And-White With Bono

U2 seems to be a pretty divisive band among rock fans. For some reason, about half of the people who love classic rock like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, or The Stones don't appreciate them. While half of those who like grungier rock and heavy-metal or folk-rock and soft-rock seem to think that U2 lacks "cool" and depth respectively. And yet, everybody else just adores them, making Bono, The Edge, and U2 easily the most wealthy band currently performing on Earth. But regardless of the noise surrounding him, Bono remains a devoted family man. He married activist and businesswoman Alison Hewson and had four children with her: daughters Jordan (pictured here) and Memphis Ebe (star of The Knick and This Must Be The Place), as well as songs Elijah and John. Here we can see that none of the positive or negative feedback matters, only his daughter's love.

10 Keith Richards Models With His Daughters

Everyone jokes that they don't know how Rolling Stone's co-founder, guitarist, secondary vocalist, and co-principal songwriter, Keith Richards is still with us. After all, the guy has had a pretty colorful life, one that he seems to still be enjoying. Well, maybe the answer is his relationships with his kids. These relationships all seem to be really strong and pleasant. His first three children, Marlon, Angela (originally named Dandelion), and Tara, were born to Anita Pallenberg, whom he was married to from 1967 to 1979. Unfortunately, Tara didn't live too much longer after her birth due to SIDS. Afterward, he got hitched to Patti Hansen, who was the baby-mama of the two daughters pictured here, Theodora Dupree and Alexandra Nicole. Even though he's being a dad in this photo, he's still utterly cool.

9 Musical Talent Runs In Sting's Family Genes

And to think, Pheobe could have successfully used Ben's friendship with Sting's son to get tickets to his show. Aside from Friends, we know Sting from his amazing solo life, which included songs like "Desert Rose" and "Brand New Day", as well as his time with the band Sting and the Police. While he was with The Police, Sting was responsible for creating such great songs as "I Can't Stand Losing You", "Every Breath You Take", "So Lonely", "Message In A Bottle", Every Little Thing She Does" and, of course, "Roxanne". All the cool that Sting brought to us is present in this 2004 photo, where he's seen beside his wife since the late 1970s, Trudie Styler, and their daughter, Coco. Of course, Sting has a total of six children: two with his previous wife, Frances Tomelty, and four with Styler. But Coco is the only one who has shown us that she's inherited her father's musical talent as she is the lead singer of the group I Blame Coco.

8 Flying With Three Generations Of Osbournes

Even with all his misdeeds, you gotta love Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne. Of course, nowadays, Ozzy is even better known for his antics on the MTV show The Osbournes and his super-successful (and utterly hilarious) wife, Sharon. Additionally, we know a lot about two of the kids he had with Sharon; TV star Kelly, and Jack, who is pictured here flying with his son. As beautiful as it is to see Ozzy off the stage and with Kelly or with Jack and the third Osbourne generation, he actually has multiple kids that we don't know about. Of course, he and Sharon have a third daughter, Aimee, the eldest child who never wanted to be in the spotlight and therefore opted out of the reality show. But before Sharon, the heavy metal rocker fathered two children and adopted one with his first wife, Thelma.

7 Mick Jagger And His Many, Many, Many, Many... Wait For It... Many Kids

Eight. Mick Jagger has a grand total of eight children. Although they're not really children anymore since they are all above the age of 17, the oldest is in her late 40s. Although many religious families have these kinds of numbers, The Rolling Stone's lead singer and co-writer has had them with multiple wives, five to be exact. He first had a kid with Marsha Hunt named Karis. Then he had Jade with Bianca Jagger. In this photo, we see Mick with Jerry Hall and their three of their four kids, James, Georiga, and Gabriel. The missing one would be Elizabeth. In more recent years, he had a son, Lucas, with Luciana Gimenez and a new son with Melanie Hamrick. If we were to just look at this image with no context, we probably wouldn't have a clue about how complicated Mick's family life truly is.

6 Robert Plant Takes His Kids Up The Mountainside

This lead singer and lyricist from Wales may just be one of the best artists of all time. After all, Robert Plant did head the classic rock band, Led Zeppelin. You know them. They're responsible for incredible songs like "When the Levee Breaks", "Black Dog", "Whole Lotta Love", "Kashmir", "Over The Hills And Far Away", "Ramble On", and a little song called, "Stairway To Heaven". In this picture, we can see Plant with his ex-wife Maureen Wilson and two of their three children, going for a climb up the magnificent hills of his homeland. For a man so connected to the colorful life of a rockstar, this image looks pretty laid back, loving, and, well, "normal".

5 An Edgy Artist With A Love For Family And Felines

Although his band still hasn't been inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (which is blasphemous), Billy Corgan is the Prince of Grunge. His band, The Smashing Pumpkins, is responsible for some of the moodiest, most heartfelt, and downright sad songs in rock history. These songs include "Bullet With Butterfly Wings", "Tonight, Tonight", "1979", "Zero", and "The Beginning Is The End". Although Corgan may not seem like the type to even want to get out of bed in the morning, he remains connected to his wife and two kids, Augustus, and Philomena, oh, and also all of his cats. This is the image that Corgan used to announce the upcoming birth of his daughter. It seems perfectly nice and not unhappy to us!

4 Chester Bennington Leaves Behind A Load Of Kids

Looking back at this photo, we can't help feel a little sad. After all, Chester Bennington passed on the way ahead of his time. This image was taken at the Kid's Choice Awards a good eight years before the Linkin Park rocker left us and his six children, all of whom we see pictured here. This is a pretty uncommon photo given that Bennington has these six kids with a number of different women. Still, he was clearly able to bring them all together for fun events like this, which is a pretty remarkable thing for a dad to have done. For those who aren't too aware of his music, Linkin Park is responsible for songs like "Numb", "What I've Done", "Iridescent", "New Divide", "Somewhere I Belong", and "Castle of Glass".

3 Jon Bon Jovi Celebrates His Very Own Day With His Kids

Jon Bon Jovi has had a lot to celebrate in recent years. He was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by his good friend, King of All Media, Howard Stern, and even got his very own day in his home of New Jersey. This image was taken at an event that celebrated the creation of "Bon Jovi Day", which was created in recognition of all the musical and philanthropic work Bon Jovi has done for his state, the country, and the world. The frontman of Bon Jovi has a total of four children with his wife of many years, Dorothea Hurley. Together they have Stephanie, Jesse, Jacob, and Romeo. He clearly has a close relationship with them as we can see them flanking their father on this very special day.

2 Dave Matthews Parents On The Sidewalk

The late 1990s and the early 2000s was the era of The Dave Matthews Band, which was led by, you guessed it, Dave Matthews. Nobody had the soft, tender, and yet full-on voice of this lead vocalist, songwriter, and lead guitarist. With his band, Dave Matthew is responsible for such songs as "Crash Into Me", "Ants", "Halloween", The Space Between", "Where Are You Going", and "Warehouse". And guess what? He's still making great music today. Well, that is when he's not looking after the kids he's had with his longtime girlfriend, Ashley Harper. Together, they have Stella, Grace, and a son named August. They live in Seattle, Washington, and have a vacation home in New York, where this great parenting image was taken.

1 One Of The Biggest Rockstars In History Looks Like A Stuffy Business Man

It's true, the guy featured at the center of this family portrait looks like a stuffy businessman. Just look at his glasses, his suit, and the attire of his daughter, Rosie, wife, Heather, and her mother(?). But, in reality, this is Roger Daltry, the lead singer of the rock band The Who, a band responsible for songs like "I Can't Explain", "My Generation", "Substitute", "You Better You Bet", "Real Good Looking Boy", "Behind Blue Eyes", "Baba O'Reilly", "Pinball Wizard", "Won't Get Fooled Again", and other songs featured on the soundtrack of the CSI shows. Before he had Rosie, and her siblings Willow and Jamie with Heather Taylor, Roger Daltry had Simon with Jacqueline Rickman and Mathias with Elisabeth Aronsson. So, even though he may not look much in this photo, this dad absolutely had a rockstar life.
