Ryan Reynolds Reveals Sex Of Third Child With Blake Lively & Tweets First Photo

Although it was common knowledge, Ryan Reynolds, 42, confirmed the birth of his third child, who he revealed was a girl, with Blake Lively, 32, on Wednesday. He also added a photo of the couple cuddling with their new bundle of joy in British Columbia, Canada, although the family lives in Pound Ridge, New York, in Westchester County.

“I love B.C.,” the actor tweeted, along with a plea for people to vote for candidates that are fighting against climate change. “I want my daughters to experience the same natural playground I grew up in. On Oct. 21, the candidate you vote for will SHAPE CLIMATE POLICY. I’m proud of the climate progress made the last 4 years. Click http://Elections.ca for voting info. #Capilano”

The Deadpool star’s pic showed the proud new parents smiling with their newborn, who was held snugly in a baby carrier worn by her dad. The couple, however, refrained from showing the infant’s face and drew a smiley face instead.

The little family was pictured standing on a trail in the forest with sunlight sparkling through the enormous trees. Reynolds had his hand placed gently on Lively’s head as the two parents posed with their little one. The couple are also parents to daughters Inez, 2½, and James, 4½.

PEOPLE confirmed on October 4 that the couple had welcomed their third child, but the baby’s sex, name or birth details were a mystery at the time. Lively had shown off her baby bump in a form-fitting yellow dress at the premiere for her husband’s movie Pokémon: Detective Pikachu in May.

“They are so happy and excited about having another baby,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “They really are the most in-love and in-tune couple, and very hands-on parents. They’d have a dozen kids if they could.”

Reynolds has famously said that he loves being a father to girls, telling Entertainment Weekly Radio in 2016, “If I could have nine daughters, I would be thrilled. Really, like I genuinely would be.”

He said that part of the reason for not wanting boys necessarily was because he grew up with three brothers, which created a somewhat chaotic home environment. “My brothers and I, there’s four of us, we would destroy the house,” he told EW Radio. “I was eight and I could patch and drywall at eight. We could actually repair an entire hole in the wall in our house within 15 minutes. That’s part of the reason I don’t want boys because I don’t want a whiffle house. I just want the house to be normal.”

“Having a daughter was a dream come true for me,” the actor told PEOPLE after the couple welcomed their first daughter, James. “I would have made a terrible king.”
