If you’ve been following along since Thanksgiving, then you may have heard that The Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie has been at home recovering from eye surgery.

Right before the holiday, Guthrie’s three-year old son Charlie accidentally threw a toy train and it hit her in the right eye. She has undergone numerous laser eye procedures in hopes of avoiding surgery. Unfortunately, she did need the surgery after all, but she sends word that she is doing well.

On Instagram, Guthrie shared a sweet note written by her five-year old daughter Vale regarding her mother’s recovery. It reads, “Nobody can come in to my mommy’s room” with several words being underlined. Guthrie caption the picture by writing, “This is my ‘out of office’ message”. She then explained that the tear in her retina did require surgery and how thankful she is to her doctors, friends, and husband for their help.

Up until this point, this eye injury didn’t stop Guthrie from going to work. Even just days after the accident, she co-hosted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with coworker Hoda Kotb. She continued to be on the show while wearing glasses, until this past Wednesday when she had her surgery.

The injury did not stop her from being a mom either! On Sunday, Guthrie posted a wonderful family photo standing behind a cake for Charley’s third birthday. She wrote, “Three years old and ready to paaaarrrrty”. And party they did! After the photo, she posted videos of Charley being cute and dancing around with a glow wand. She asked Charley, “How old are you?” and after making a silly face he held up three fingers to the camera. Guthrie mentioned before that Charley is still young and doesn’t understand what exactly happened to her. She also doesn’t want him to feel bad about it.

Her coworkers and other television hosts have sent her love and support by commenting on her Instagram posts. Dylan Dreyer, Carson Daly, and his wife Siri, have all written comments wishing her well. Bravo TV host Andy Cohen even made a joke by writing, “Get better soon! And don’t try to read these comments It’ll hurt your eyes!” With Guthrie sounding optimistic about her surgery, it’s safe to assume that everything is going to turn out just fine.
