Shawn Johnson and Andrew East have announced they are expecting baby number two! The couple welcomed their first child into the world, daughter Drew Hazel East, in late 2019. Now, one year later, Drew is getting a sibling, the couple revealed on social media this week.
On Friday, Johnson announced she was pregnant through a post on her Instagram page. The 29-year-old posted a series of photos on her social media page to reveal the exciting news, according to US Weekly. The first photo shows Johnson kissing Andrew as she sports a black maxi dress which showed off her adorable baby bump. The second photo in the series shows Drew smiling at the camera as she wears a pink dress and holds a tiny pair of Converse shoes. The last photo features their family together as Johnson and Andrew smile at the camera while Drew plays with the pair of shoes. In the caption of the photo, Johnson tells her followers “here we go again. #babyeast,” along with a tag to their family’s Instagram page. Fans and followers of the couple were excited to hear the news and congratulated the couple on their new addition. One follower thought the couple was having twins, but Johnson confirmed they are only having one baby.
The couple also talked about the pregnancy news on their YouTube channel. They start the video off by showing off two pairs of baby socks. Andrew tells their followers that he noticed Johnson was being “mean” to him and recalled the last time she acted like that was when she was pregnant. Johnson says she missed her period and they had waited until they were cleared by their doctor to try again for another baby. Not long after taking an ovulation test, Johnson took a pregnancy test and was surprised it came back positive because it had been so soon. Johnson waited for Andrew to finish a phone call to share the news and that’s when she handed him the pregnancy test. The couple laughs now at how Andrew reacted because he had initially told Johnson, “ya, I freakin’ knew you were!” according to PEOPLE. That’s when Johnson revealed she had actually been pregnant for two months at that point when she found out. Due to their previous miscarriage years ago, this brought on anxiety for Johnson as she had no idea she was pregnant and had been going about life as usual. Andrew also revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 at the same time they found out Johnson was pregnant. Andrew quarantined while Johnson called the doctor and Drew’s pediatrician. Andrew has since recovered.
The couple says they are thrilled about their journey of having two children under two. Shawn says she is due this summer. They both think their little one will be a boy but will have to wait and see.
