Shawn Johnson and her partner, Andrew East, have shared the results of their genetic testing after experiencing pregnancy complications. The couple has documented their emotional journey, and the news has finally begun to turn for the better. They were constantly praying for the health of their baby, and while they will continue to do so, some of their anxieties have been calmed after the test results were revealed.

In 2017, Johnson shared an emotional video talking about her miscarriage. Six weeks into her pregnancy, she began to have stomach pains. The doctors confirmed that she had miscarried, and the couple went through a rollercoaster of emotions: they unexpectedly found out Johnson was pregnant only to be told the baby is gone. After all that heartbreak, the pair announced in February that they are expecting their first child.

Following the miscarriage, Shawn has been concerned for the health of her current baby. The doctors identified some complications, and the couple began to worry again. They found out that the baby’s kidneys were dilated and underdeveloped and Johnson has a two-vessel (compared to the normal three) umbilical cord, which puts increases the risks for Down Syndrome. At the recommendation of her doctor, Shawn decided to get a genetic test done to see if there will be any future complications.

Thankfully, the results came back negative. The test predicts that there will be no complications, so the pair was extremely relieved. To add to the joy, an ultrasound at 24-weeks has revealed that the baby’s kidneys are now normal and appear to be growing at a good rate. Johnson admitted that for the first time in four weeks, she can finally breathe. All she’s been doing is worry about her child.

The pair has shared and will continue to share their journey online. Thanks to the internet, they are able to find another source of a sense of community in their online followers. Many people are invested in their story and are rooting for their success, and this can be what the couple needs at this time. The overwhelmingly positive and supportive comments they see online help them get through the rough time, and they also multiply the joy they feel when good news arrives.
