Canadian actress and new mom Shay Mitchell has revealed that her worst mom-shamers happen to be other moms- and she's sick of it.

She was recently a guest on Pretty Big Deal with Ashley Graham- a podcast hosted by the aforementioned American supermodel. Graham- who's set to become a new mom herself any day now- asked Mitchell about mom-shaming and how it's affected her. She specifically mentioned the most infamous instance of it, when Mitchell was criticized for attending a birthday party for Canadian rapper Drake so soon after giving birth. Mitchell admitted to feeling "surprised" by this before revealing just how vicious some of the remarks were.

"People were leaving comments like 'You are the world’s worst mother already,' and 'The child needs to be taken into child services,'" Mitchell revealed in the episode.

Mitchell then went on to give some context to the situation. See, she announced the birth of daughter Atlas Noa on October 20th, 2019. However, Mitchell actually gave birth on October 8th, 2019. She explained, "it had actually been a couple weeks and it felt like it was the right time. [Boyfriend Matte Babel and I] went out for an hour and a half, and I was back."

Mitchell appeared to have handle the situation well. But two things bothered her about it. First, not every new mom (famous or not) may have as strong a support system that Mitchell has to encourage them to enjoy themselves. She's aware that she's lucky in that department. But the other thing that upset her was to see that other moms were the ones shaming her the most. This also happened when she posted a photo of her in full-glam while breastfeeding her baby girl.

"How dare you make a new mom, who’s already going through a lot of doubt and guilt when she leaves for the first time, [feel guilty?] That should be something that’s celebrated. You’re living your life, as you did before and as you will continue to with your child," she ranted.

During the podcast episode, both women discussed more parenting and pregnancy-related topics. This included birth plans, dealing with breast milk coming in for the first time, and something Mitchell called "prepartum depression". The last point connected to Mitchell's 2018 miscarriage, only to worry about being ungrateful for her most recent pregnancy going smoothly.

Despite all this, Mitchell appears to have adjusted well to motherhood. Here's hoping that she, her boyfriend Matte Babel, and their daughter will be happy for a long time to come. As for those mothers who are doing the mom-shaming- perhaps it's time to knock it off. Let's leave it in the last decade!
