Five short months after she shared the happy news that she was expecting her first child - a girl - on Instagram, the Degrassi and 90210 alum has officially become a mommy. Grimes, 28, gave birth to her daughter, Bowie Scarlett Beech, this past Thursday, announcing Bowie's arrival with a sweet black and white photo of the baby peacefully sleeping under a blanket.
Her daughter's name seems to be in reference to the late icon, David Bowie, which should come as no surprise given that her dad is Josh Beech, 31, an English indie rock singer, songwriter and musician. The two tied the knot in an intimate ceremony just outside of London back in 2013 after dating for a little over a year. For the ceremony, Grimes memorably wore an unconventional black gown and walked down the aisle to house music playing in the background. Bowie is the couple's first child together.
But the Toronto-born actress made even bigger headlines earlier this year when she first broke the news that she was expecting.
"I can’t believe our world is about to get a whole lot bigger and brighter, and can’t wait to embark on this wild ride with my partner in crime," she told People, referencing her husband. She also shared a glowing photo on Instagram to accompany the announcement of her and Beech posing together, as she cradles her growing bump.
Since then, she has faithfully detailed her pregnancy journey all across social media, as well as on her personal blog, Lost in Lala, where she shares her latest and most favourite tips and tricks from the world of fashion, style and beauty, pets - and of course, getting ready for baby. No stranger to vlogs either, her YouTube channel is a lively week-to-week dairy of her bump progress, sprinkled with DIY hair and makeup tricks - and even some mom-to-be essentials, such as what to pack in your hospital bag and some little-known pregnancy hacks for any expectant mom.
Beech, 31, echoed his wife's joy on his own personal Instagram on Thursday, sharing a similar monochrome picture of his new little girl, curled up safely in his arms. In a heartfelt post, he gushed about their newest addition and was full of praise for his wife.
"Bowie Scarlett Beech. Welcome to the world beautiful girl. @shenaegrimesbeech thank you, thank you, thank you... you are more than words. Your [sic] are stronger than I’ll ever be and already such a incredible Mummy, ❤️" it read.
