As parents of a newborn, you’re always told to try and sleep when the baby sleeps. Does this still count when your baby takes a snooze for their newborn photoshoot? Hilariously, a photographer in Georgia captured a sweet moment when two parents drifted off to sleep on a couch during their baby’s newborn pictures.
Cindhi and Ross David, from Columbus Georgia, we’re living the newborn life of getting two hours of sleep a night, and not much more during the day. But, they wanted to make sure they got photos of their son Theodore while he was still new. Cindhi told reporters, “It was the first time I’d been out of the house since the hospital. I was so excited I got to wash my hair and put on normal clothes”.

When the three of them arrived at the photoshoot, Ross was the first one to see the couch. He said to reporters, “he was going to relax and close his eyes for a moment.” Cindhi agreed that he should do that and decided to join him on the couch hoping to watch the photoshoot at the same time. But within minutes, both of them were out like a light.
The photoshoot was done by Sarah Jankowski of Simply Joyful Moments Photography. Jankowski commented that other parents have fallen asleep in her studio before because they come in around 1-2 weeks after delivering and, “I’ve got a white noise (machine) going and I keep the room nice and warm. You put all those factors together and it’s a recipe for a nice comfy nap”. Using the white noise machine and keeping the temperature warm helps keep the newborn babies comfortable enough to take adorable pictures.
With the help of her assistant, Jankowski continued on with the photoshoot with all three Davis’ asleep. After 45 minutes, Cindhi and Ross woke up and said, “We needed that so much”. They also said it was the first interrupted sleep they had since bringing Theodore home from the hospital. Cindhi was a little disappointed that she didn’t watch the photoshoot, but she absolutely loves the pictures from it, including the one of all three of them sleeping.
Jankowski shared that photo to social media and it instantly went viral. Thousands of parents commented that they’ve felt like that before and praised the photographer for letting them sleep. Newborn life can be pretty daunting, but there are these sweet moments that come with it.
