Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has welcomed a baby daughter. The 51-year-old vocalist shared the news via his Instagram on Tuesday by posting a sweet snap of his two-year-old son, Augustus Jupiter, looking down at the new addition. Fans were surprised by the tot's arrival as neither Billy or his partner Chloe Mendel had announced the pregnancy.

Please welcome PHILOMENA CLEMENTINE CORGAN, the latest addition to our family! Pictured here with her brother, Augustus Juppiter, this makes 8, counting Chloe, Angelface, Diamondbaby, Chin Chin, Ling Ling and yours truly. I''m so lucky to have a great partner in @chloemendel, who juggled raising our son, pregnancy with Philomena, whilst building her fashion line (@maisonatia) and navigating my being gone so much with SP in 2018. Oh, and then there's wrestling!! What a year! @pawschicago @smashingpumpkins @nwa
Corgan joked that his daughter, named Philomena Clementine, was the eighth member of the family, counting his two dogs Angelface and Diamondbaby, and two cats Chin Chin and Ling Ling. The hitmaker went on to praise his 25-year-old wife for balancing everything in her life so well, from being a mother to building her own fashion empire. Although most celebrities struggle to keep pregnancies secret from the media, this is the second time the couple has evaded the public eye - Augustus' impending arrival was also kept under wraps until he was born.
The secrecy isn't surprising given Billy's refusal to talk about certain aspects of his private life in the past. Following on from his wedding and subsequent divorce to long-time girlfriend Chris Fabian in the mid-90's, Billy refused to answer any questions on the subject, stating that a "line must be drawn." However, his very messy relationship with Kurt Cobain's ex-wife and notorious wild child Courtney Love was an exception to the rule. Corgan and Love lived together in 2006, before parting ways. When Courtney publicly criticised him post-spilt on Twitter for not attending her daughter's 16th birthday party, and the pair exchanged harsh words on the social media platform. Needless to say, the pair didn't remain friends.
After his split from Love, Corgan was linked to squeaky-clean pop star Jessica Simpson before moving on to Jessica Origliasso from The Veronicas in 2010. It looks like Corgan has finally settled down with fashion designer Chloe Mendel, who largely stays out of the limelight to concentrate on family life and her growing faux fur clothing line Maison Atia.
We are wishing Corgan and his growing family the best of luck with their new addition!
