Kylie Jenner was probably still holding her daughter, but little Stormi just blew out her first birthday candle. The world's most famous baby is now one.
"Life-changing." When Kylie was asked to sum up 2018 on KUWTK, she only needed two words. The spoiled teenager whose Life of Kylie show once came with being sad "because we never take out the Lambo" is now a responsible mother. She's also running a billion-dollar empire.
"Kylie Jenner took Stormi Webster for her first sushi and you won't believe how much it cost," Cosmopolitan reported in January 2019. The sashimi platter (that Stormi probably only took a bite of) came to $63. With the baby Burberry, $12,500 Fendi stroller, and luxury vacays, this might ironically be the least that Kylie has ever spent on her baby.
Kylie used to be 100% about the money. A $1 million purse closet might still be how the youngest Kar-Jenner rolls, but she's already picked out a pink Hermès bag for her baby. How everyone knows it'll go down well? Stormi has already shown some pretty high enthusiasm for Louis Vuitton.
Designer clothes don't make a cute baby. A cute baby makes a cute baby. Winning the race by a million miles is Kylie's little Stormi. It's time for the biggest and best roundup ever. With a #FirstBirthday, here are 25 pics of Kylie's little girl (that we're still getting over).
Kylie was just 20 when her $900 million net worth landed her Forbes "Youngest Self-Made Billionaire" cover. Money isn't everything, though. Speaking to Kim via ES, Kylie said:
"I think more about the future because of [Stormi]. Every time I leave and I'm stressed about leaving her, I'm like: I'm doing it for you."
Kylie isn't alone in struggling to leave her baby. Even Cardi B hasn't hired a nanny yet. "It's the most authentic thing I've done in my career, and it really relates to me," Kylie concluded.
There wasn't much we could do but melt when Kylie posted a video of Stormi holding some of mommy's merch. "Trying to teach her some new words" was the caption to a doe-eyed Stormi sitting on her playmat.
"Kylie...Cosmetics. Kylie...Cosmetics," you can hear Kylie saying. Stormi just clutches the Lip Kit, babbles away, then falls back on the one word she can say: "Dada." Stormi then starts giggling (which makes Kylie burst out laughing). Looks like Stormi is a natural in front of the camera.
Having a baby at the age of 20 is nothing new. It's also not the world's youngest age. When you're running a billion-dollar empire though, suddenly becoming a mother is definitely an intrusion.
"Everyone says you change completely when you become a mom, but I really feel the same, just better," Kylie told ES. The same (just better) is exactly what we saw in April 2018. "Stormi Strolls" came with one, Fendi-monogrammed dress and the custom stroller People estimates to be worth $12,500.
They grow up fast, right? While all eyes are on Stormi as she becomes a toddler, there's less talk about how Kylie herself is coping. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Kylie said: "It's just a change and I'm finding, like, I have to change my style because nothing in my closet fits me from before."
"At such a young age to see your body go through such a change..." Kylie didn't need to finish that sentence. Embracing motherhood for Kylie came with a #RealityCheck, but she maintains that she wouldn't turn back the clock.
Celeb baby names are all anyone can talk about. Angelina Jolie's Shiloh-Nouvel and Gwyneth Paltrow's Apple Martin are a touch old-school, but the trend is alive and well.
"I really don’t know how we thought of Storm. Her dad insisted it was him, but I feel like it was me...And then I didn’t really like just Storm — I didn’t feel like that was her name. So then it became Stormi. And it just stuck."
As E Online reports, Kylie went with her gut. Stormi Webster just felt right (the Webster part is Travis Scott's real last name). This baby is beyond rocking her name.
There was a limit to how much "new stuff" Kylie could discover. Lamborghinis and eyeshadow palettes might come in different colors, but they don't come close to handling a baby. ES reports:
"I feel like it's just been so amazing, and so much fun. I'm learning so much more about myself and life, and it's been such a great experience," Kylie said as she reflected on motherhood. Remember that Kylie was being interviewed by her own sister here, so the feelings were honest.
Sure, the glam squads are still there. For the build-up to Stormi's first birthday, Kylie whisked her baby away on a luxury beachfront getaway (complete with 360-degree videos of swaying palms, dazzling-white sands, and some pretty nice digs).
The Louis Vuitton might still be a huge part of Kylie's life, but it's pics like these that prove our point. Kylie, 100% makeup-free. No glittering gowns, no monogrammed swimwear. Just shorts, sunshine, and her little bundle of joy. "Ten years from now -- in 2025 -- I hope I have a kid," Kylie told Vogue back in 2015.
If you watched the video, you'll 100% know what Kylie meant. From someone who planned to watch it once (then hit repeat a good three times), this video was beyond adorable. Following her 2018 Japan trip, Kim Kardashian gifted $9,000 worth of Louis Vuitton to her daughters and nieces.
Stormi got a $1,1000 Louis Vuitton Nano Speedy (and her eyes lit right up). "omg this girl threw the bag over her shoulder i can’t" was Kylie's caption. Kylie says: "Bye!" Stormi replies: "Bye!"
Halloween 2018 bought us some pretty epic #Twinning outfits from Kylie and Stormi. While Kylie later joined her sisters for a joint Victoria's Secret costume, it was the Stormi time that made us melt.
"Stormi Weather" saw this mommy and daughter duo team up for some weather-inspired outfits, and it's pretty clever considering Stormi's name. Fluffy clouds, metallic golds, a lightning bolt, and all the #Adorable in the world. Notice how Kylie isn't even looking at the camera, here. She's 100% focused on her baby.
The Kardashian-Jenners don't do outfits like the rest of us. Outfit changes are where it's at. While "Stormi Weather" formed one half of Kylie's Halloween 2018 outfit, it was "The Butterfly Effect" that received the most attention. Maybe it's the pink. Maybe it's the satin. Maybe it's just the fact that this kid is so cute, you can't peel your eyes away from her.
"The Butterfly Effect" is a track on Travis' Astroworld album.
Kylie wore a similar outfit with oversized butterfly wings (and there was plenty of time spent with Stormi before bed).
Stormi has been walking (ish) for a while now. It's those few weeks of transition between "falling on my backside" and really making it on their own that are so beautiful, though. While it's mostly Kylie documenting Stormi's progress on Instagram, Travis does join in.
"We about to be walking soon. OG 3's I see u mama" was Travis' caption to this adorable pic. Travis has designed a best-selling Nike shoe (so it was only fitting that his little girl wear Nike Air Jordan sneakers).
Stormi is now one year old, but she's still young enough to have her age marked in months. Four months ago marked Stormi's eight months, and a little celebration was in order. In less than a year, Kylie herself was able to undergo more change than we ever imagined possible.
"So I don’t know what really has completely changed my world, besides her, of course. But I feel like it’s only gotten better. You’re less selfish," she reflected. Stormi now seems to factor into everything Kylie does (and every thought process she has).
January 2019 will forever be remembered for the @worldrecord egg Instagram post that set out to break Stormi's record likes (and did). While the egg is mostly forgotten, Stormi is only beginning her legacy.
Racking up over 18 million likes, Stormi's announcement post broke Instagram records.
"My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress-free and healthy way I knew how.” Kylie explained her silence (and the adorable pics let us forgive her immediately).
Kylie has opened up a fair bit about the baby name decision. "I was just looking on nature names, like weather-earth inspired, Storm was on there, but I was like, I kind of want an 'ie' like me. So then I did 'Stormie," she told Harper's Bazaar. Given how well this baby is pulling her name off, we're giving this a #GoodDecision.
"i was hot as hell out in the heat, then a storm came in to save my life" was a 2018 caption from Kylie on Instagram. While the witticisms are there, it's the meaning behind them that matter.
For the girl who claims "makeup is my passion," it's makeup-free shots like these that show just how much Stormi has changed Kylie. Kylie Cosmetics has earned this beauty mogul $900 million. The Lip Kits, Kyshadows, Birthday Palettes, and very cool Storm shade might be Kylie's business life, but Stormi made Kylie see a deeper meaning.
"I actually feel like I love myself more after I had Stormi. And I’m trying to be … I mean, I’m already a positive person, but just having fun, being positive," Kylie told Vogue.
You aren't a Kardashian until you've got a squad. While Kylie has her BFF, Jordyn Woods (and Kylie's sisters form the original #SquadGoals), there's a new squad in town.
"The triplets." Stormi, Chicago, and True were all born in the first half of 2018. They might still be talking in babbles, but Kim's daughter (Chicago), Khloe's girl (True), and Kylie's Stormi are already total BFFs. If you noticed your browser loading slowly the day this pic was posted, you weren't the only one.
Travis Scott got completely honest during his December 2018 Rolling Stone interview. Travis even admitted initially wanting a boy. Everything changed the minute Stormi arrived, though.
“When we found out it was a girl, I was like, ‘Huhhh.’ But after a while I was like, ‘Yo, this might be the illest thing that ever happened.’ And when Stormi was born, I was like, ‘Life is fire, bro.’
Travis isn't one to smile in his super-slick #Rapper poses, but when Stormi's around, he just can't help himself.
Stormi isn't "normie." This baby spent her early months in a $12,500 Fendi stroller, and it looks like the standards have been maintained. Private jets are how the Kardashian-Jenners travel, and it's no different for their kids.
"Less selfish" is how Kylie now describes herself. Probably why this pic wasn't a selfie. Instead, we saw little Stormi exploring the interiors of that private jet in the cutest snowsuit we've ever seen. Paneled mahoganies and cream leathers might be this kid's surroundings, but we wouldn't expect anything else.
Kylie isn't carrying her baby around like a Barbie. At 21 years old, Kylie is fully aware of the reality both she and her daughter face. When Kim interviewed Kylie, she asked her younger sister: "What kind of world would you like Stormi to grow up in?"
"She’s going to have her own challenges," Kylie replied, before adding: "I just hope that she’s strong and independent and confident." From what we've seen, Stormi has 100% inherited her mother's confidence. It's good to know that Kylie wants the best for her.
2019 showed us something interesting– yes, that huge ring on Kylie's finger. For the moment, Kylie is keeping super quiet about the engagement rumors, although Travis was more vocal. He told Rolling Stone:
“We’ll get married soon. I just gotta sturdy up — I gotta propose in a fire way.”
This came after an admission from Travis: ‘I need her with me to operate. She’s that one." #Wow and #Goals. Kylie and Travis have been together for nearly two years now.
Sometimes, you look at a photo and you just don't have any words. When Kylie posted this morning snap of herself with Stormi, she didn't need a fancy getup of Versace dresses or background cars. With just a bathrobe and her baby, Kylie was in her happy place.
"It’s just having a different outlook on life so I can pass that on to her," Kylie told Kendall via Vogue. "I want to be an example for her." It's unlikely that Kylie is reading this, but if she is– Kylie, you already are one.
Motherhood isn't easy. It's tough when you're pulling shifts at McDonald's, and it's tough when you've got millions in the bank. While it's no secret that the Kardashians hire professional help, leaving the baby with a nanny 24/7 just isn't Kylie's style. Stormi made her KUWTK debut in 2018.
"It is physically, mentally, and emotionally a challenge." Kylie told her mom, but she added: "I would have done the same thing over again." Kylie delivered Stormi naturally, and she didn't feel any pain, according to Kris Jenner.
Kylie doesn't have it as easy as you might think. The pressure of being a public figure can be crippling, but Kylie has continued to focus on what matters to her. Speaking to her mom on KUWTK, Kylie admitted that motherhood had its ups and downs.
"Of course there's hard times and stuff… even in the beginning, just not sleeping, the nights, like, baby blues… and all the ups and downs."
It seems to be more ups than downs now, though. Kylie posted videos of Stormi enjoying the ocean during their joint vacation, and it was good to hear the laughs.
The world's most famous baby she may be, but don't think Stormi lounges by the pool all day. In 2018, Kylie gave fans the inside scoop via Snapchat– little Stormi was being carried around the backstage corridors during Travis' Astroworld tour. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Travis said:
"Even with me on tour, Stormi pulls up. She’ll travel. She got more stamps on her passport than a lot of [people].”
"We don’t let nothing come over Stormi time. Stormi Saturdays," Travis added. "We don’t [mess] around with those."
It isn't rocket science. When a girl is happy, it's written all over her face. Kylie doesn't take selfies with Stormi on a daily basis, but there's enough of them out there to show us how she feels.
"You are my happy place" was one caption of Kylie with her baby. Her words? "I feel like it's just been so amazing." There's so much more to come. Happy birthday, Stormi, and here's to another year of adventures for Kylie, Travis, and their baby.
