As if moms needed another reason to shop or even spend their entire afternoon at their local Target store, the retailer just gave them one. That’s because Target is now offering moms a nursing room complete with comfortable seating and freebies for new mothers.
One mom noticed the changes during her most recent Target run and decided to share the news with the popular Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk. A framed note from the Weatherford Target team said that moms are free to nurse whenever and wherever they would like while they are shopping because, as they put it simply, moms rock.
Because Target understands that not every mom feels comfortable breastfeeding in public, they’ve decided to come up with a place just for them in a more comfortable and private setting. The note goes on to say that if a mom needs to nurse or change a diaper, all they need to do is ask one of their Fitting Room Attendants about their nursing room.
If that weren’t enough, the nursing room also comes with a handful of freebies and goodies to make their customers’ time there even a little sweeter. The note finishes off by saying "Happy Nursing and Happy Shopping."
The post has so far been liked 37,000 times with over 2,000 comments and 43,000 shares on Facebook. Many moms took to their social media accounts to express just how much they appreciate this particular Target store for going beyond every parent’s expectations once again. Others described personal moments and experiences in which they were either harassed or given the side eye while nursing their child in public.
One ex-employee also said that she worked at Target while nursing her first child. She says that the company was one of the most supportive employers she’s ever had. She didn’t have to pump during her lunch breaks only and was even given snacks and refreshers in a private employee-only room, too.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Target has been applauded for keeping busy and new parents in mind. Back in 2015, they were one of the first department stores to announce that they would be adding baby diaper changing stations into both men and family restrooms so both moms and dads can share their diaper duty while shopping at the store.
